  • Prozac anyone?

I have been on prozac for 2 weeks and i was wondering will atkins work for me while i am taking it. I was on effexor and it made me gain 15pounds in a month. I have already stated feeling better and i have noticed my apetite shrinking. I hope this works because i have gained back the weight i lost from doing atkins previously.

    Thanks

    Re: Prozac anyone?

I don't know about Prozac, but I started Effexor last December and it completely supressed my appetite. So I suppose like with anything else, YMMV (your mileage may vary).

    I wish you well!!

there are a number of liver proteins that have effectes on those types of medications 22 known at this time. Each one of us is genetically different and some have more of one type ans less of others so different meds will have different results at different doses even. It is new to the field knowledge so your doc may not test you for them before prescribing and just go by what you report. Atkins also uses some liver reaction sites that the meds us so it can effect your needed dose. Talk it over with your prescribing doc and make sure as he titrates your dose you let him know about any changes.

I used to take PRozac and was able to lose on Atkins. In fact, after being on Atkins and losing weight I felt so much better, I'm now medication-free!

Granted, this won't happen to everyone, but I just want you to know I was able to lose while taking Prozac and Wellbutrin, and am now totally med-free thanks to Atkins and my blood sugar stabilizing.

I was on effexor for about 2 months. It supressed my appitite and make me tired and shaky. I dont know about prozac, but I dont think effexor made me gain any, then again I got off it really quick. I was at 150mg a day and I hated the way it made me feel, not to mention I couldnt afford it. The withdrawal was aweful, i've never felt so sick in my life! After I got off it is when I stopped paying attention to what I put in my mouth. Some meds can make you gain a lot, so be sure to ask your doc about that before you agree to a regiment of drugs.

I was able to lose taking small dose of both Prozac and Wellbutrin, off both of them now. Good luck. How's it going?

              Re: Prozac anyone?

I took Prozac some years back. (I need something now)

Prozac can make you crave from what I was told and experienced is carbs, like breads and the such. Again that was years ago, the med can be better now.

Also, Prozac poops out after a while, so after I was taking it for like 6 months it stopped working, the Dr. switched me to something else.

              Good Luck though. =)
