  • Dysthymia

I have Dysthymia which is successfully being treated with therapy and I was on paxil for 6 months so my brain could "reset." ( I'm off of it now)

Does anyone else on the board have Dysthymia?

    Re: Dysthymia

I was seeing a psychologist over the summer after I got back from nearly going to Iraq. The dr. I was seeing gave me one of those silly tests and one of the things he diagnosed me with was dysthymia..... Shortly after he put me on anti-depressants which I stopped taking with the help of my family doctor because the stuff was making me feel worse....

My family doctor and I spoke and decided I wasn't gonnago back on meds or anything until after I seperated frommy husband for a few months and we saw how I felt then. Reason being he believed a LOT of my problems stemmed from my marriage.

I ahve been seperated for about a month now and I have really bad days, today was one, but from everyone I talk to who has been through seperation/divorce it is to be expected. I have NO desire to go back on meds. I hated the way I felt when I took them and I hated being dependant on a pill. So we will see how things shape up in the next couple mnths....
