66 HOURS! THERE IS HOPE! I am *really* dizzy today though .. so I've been taking dramamine to help with that. So far, I am hanging tough! NO GOING BACK ON THOSE DASTARDLY EVIL LOATHESOME THINGS!

Cassy 208/206/203/125 Blood pressure:150/90/120/70 (after 2-1/2 weeks of induction)
I did the half dose for a week, then tried to go a day without and suffered alot last Sunday, so I went to one half dose every 36 hours...up until last Monday night which was my last one.
I wish you well getting off the Lexapro...I understand the new job thing cuz I started a new job 5 months ago ... hang in there .. WE WILL BOTH MAKE IT!
I am determined NEVER to take these things again, NO MATTER WHAT!

make sure you do like Betty did and talk with your doc about coming off your med. there maybe some steps you need to take because of other meds you might be taking too.
Betty - I am so sorry you are going through this and it's so tough! It sounds like you're on the upside now - all up from here! Let's hope!
I was on anti-depressents for 12 years and got off. My experience was that the healthier I became - the less I needed them. I went through a pretty miserable 2-3 months where with nothing in my system - I don't think my body knew what to do. I just fed it lots of Cod Liver Oil - Omega 3's really seemed to help alot. I am also into natural everything - and heard that 5HTP is the best alternative that is natural. But by the time I went out and bought it - my problem had been erased. I think it's like your body grows a new memory and repairs itself.
I had also done alot of research on www.mercola.com and newstarget.com - they have information that says that antidepressents overall do so much more harm then good. So I congratulate you - this is another great step to your NEW YOU!!! You look great girl!
Carol I can do this, uh huh, uh huh! Start Date: 1/3/06 179/169/144
Thank you, Carol!! Congratulations on getting off the ADs!! WOW, 12 years!! Girlfriend, I can't imagine what you went through!!
Yes, I am taking fish oil supplements (always have) which does help. I am thankful that I don't have any "brain zaps" .. had those once after missing *ONE DOSE* and man, alive, they were HORRIBLE!
Effexor is a horrible drug to get off of. The worst, from what I've read, and I believe it! It will be a JUBILANT DAY when I can say I have conquered this BEAST.
I think it's like your body grows a new memory and repairs itself.
What a great way of putting it. I am praying that exact thing every single day!
Thanks so much!! You give me hope that I too will survive this!
I have to say, little by little (micro-inches by micro-inches), the withdrawal symptoms are lessening with every day that passes. GAD WHAT A TRIP OFF THESE *&*% PILLS!
I have to say that it feels AWESOME to "feel" again. If you've been on ADs, you understand how they leave you feeling emotionally NUMB ... that has subsided and I'm now able to laugh hysterically again! Not to mention cry when I get touched by something emotional (in a good way ..) And SEX! Don't get me started there!
Thanks to all of you who've encouraged me to FIGHT THIS WAR AND WIN IT!
Betty, so glad you have been able to go drug free - they are really insidious and getting off them can be worse than the original complaint!
Just some words of warning to those taking or contemplating ST John's Wort - it is a very effective drug but can cause sun sensitivity. This is documented in sheep and humans. Also in sheep, it can cause spontaneous abortion (as I know from bitter experience), don't know if this is true for humans or not.
So even if a drug is a natural herb, it CAN still have side effects and you need tobe careful.

Thanks, sweetie, for the great advice about SJW. I didn't realize the sun sensitivity issue at all, and living here in the SUNSHINE STATE, that is very helpful information! I will definitely take precautions if I use it in the future!
woo hoo Betty. I'm so happy for you. I can just see you now crying for joy in your finish line pic from the marathon as We know how emotional that moment will be
