  • Going thru detox...need some hugs :)

Hi all....as some of you know I've been on Zoloft for quite a few years. Well....I've decided to try life without it for awhile. I can't give a definative answer why I think I need to do this....I just do. I don't look at antidepressents as an evil drug...and frankly I've been off it before...and had to go back on. I sort of just accepted that I'll have to be on them forever. HA....enter current situation.

With the stories here about mental health improving with atkins I thought...why not. I"m at a different place now, a different perspective, so I thought I would give it another try.

Damn....if I didn't remember the withdrawl from before. Right now I'm on day 5 without anything. I went from 100 to 50 for about two weeks...and it was cake!! Not a thing happened. Then 50 to 0.....yowza. I"m definately irritable, but the fogginess, lightheadedness is killing me. I seem fine when I wake up....but ya know...when I start drinking my water....that's when I get lightheaded. Isn't that wierd? Anyway just wondering how long some of you had the withdrawl symptoms.

Since I'm still on crutches and not really able to do much...the lightheadedness doesn't bother me too much right now. Well...let me rephrase that.....it doesn't stop me from doing anything....cause I"m sort of laid up Thanks for listening...just wanted to vent.

    Elle-

I am with you on the med detox as I have done that several times and been
on antidepressants since I was 28...I am 48 now. I am on Lexapro and it has
done wonders for me and I am happy with it for now. Just take it slow on the
zoloft detox-as I remember zoloft is an easier med to get off of. (Just be glad
its not Effexor!) Drinking your water should help you "flush" your body faster.
Good luck and hang in there as I know where your coming from!

Thanks Pie. Today actually seems a little better so far....not quite as lightheaded., but it's early and seems to worsen as the day wears on. What's funny is....I seem to be better when I move around. When I sit....is when it bothers me the most. I just got doc clearance to get off my crutches today....so I'm going to walk a bit and see what happens.

Yes - lots of water! Flusing your body is the best thing you can do. That along with checking these boards. The support is wonderful!

        Good luck

The exercise and water may be just the ticket. It will speed up your circulation, metabolism, oxygen flow, and the detox. The light-headedness & any mood swings may improve also if you add some minerals to your regimen. I put a pinch of epsom salts in my water & dissolve it to help depression & blas.
