  • it's coming back. :(

I seem to cycle through depression, and I'm swinging rapidly downhill right now. I don't know what to do. *sigh*

I think I'm going to have to go back on drugs, I just hate the side effects, but maybe I'll be lucky. maybe.

I can't even get off the couch to exercise on the exercise challenge - i had a migraine yesterday but today will be my second rest day and I won't have any left for this week. This is bad. *sigh*

Knickers - go and see your doc if you can, he/she is the best to advise you on your medication. Not all meds have the same side effects, so maybe you just need to try out something else. I know I was no good on prozac, but celexa worked wonders for me - yet they are the same type of med.

Motivation for exercise is hard when you are going through the depression cycle, but if you can make the effort, I really urge you to. I think of that mental block as a wall of tires you have to push down when you just don't feel like doing something. It sounds silly, but it really takes such a huge effort to push it down. However exercise will increase your endorphins level and give you a boost.

Anyway, you aren't alone in feeling this way so take care,

Loonatika is right about seeing your doctor to get checked out. It won't hurt you. And if he or she thinks you need to try going back on meds, then following the advice is a good idea.

Until you get there though, look at making it one heartbeat at a time. Just one. Its not that long, and once you make it to one, go to the next one, and so on.

Remember, you're not alone, and there are people here that care. Just one baby step at a time, and you'll get there.

hugs to you both... thanks for the support. I've decided i'm calling my doctor tomorrow and see if he won't put me on something else. I'm leaving town in two days though so I don't know if he will or not. But, sex and weight be darned, I need to fix this!

I'm on celexa too. It is good for me. The first time had no probs losing weight on it. This time, not losing, but I don't think it's the meds.

You posted this a while ago. I don't know if I'm replying way too late.

I have tried many different anti-depressants. You just have to find one that fits you. Keep trying and don't give up.

well, i did it. I've called my doctor. I'll let you all know how things go. A little nervous about side effects, but I guess being miserably unhappy is a pretty sh***y side effect as it is, eh?

good for you hey ask your doc about the newer light boixes therapy for depression too The studies seem to be real impressive as the bright light causes the area of the brain that makes serotonin from metatonin shut off the melatonin and make serotonin and it only takes 20 min a day and once you get better most folk only need it every other day after that.

Okay, so the guy gave me zoloft... anyone have any anecdotes about their experience on zoloft? I'm worried about the weight gain and sexual side effects...

Zoloft did wonders for me. I didn't have any problem with being hungry or weight gain.

I can't tell you about the sexual side effects because I wasn't involved with anyone at the time.

It was years ago, but same here. I tried a lot of different ones and found zoloft to be most comfortable for me.

As far as the sexual side of things, it might have been suppressed some but truthfully the way I was feeling I didn't feel like sex anyway- so who knows if it was the depression at the time or the meds?
