  • Is this the right time?

I have bipolar ii (only recently diagnosed) and at the moment very depressed. My doc has been trying to get me on the right meds, and so far nothing has worked, but I was put on something different a couple of days ago which might be the one to work.

Anyway I've been wondering if I've been foolish in choosing this time to start a new way of eating. I struggle with overeating and sugar, and I think the withdrawal from food is making me even more depressed. Should I wait a week or so until the meds kick in to really start induction?

I've cheated a couple of times and I'm on induction so I'm really not sure if I should be making myself so frustrated! I'm on day 12 now and I've lost 5 pounds, but yesterday cheated and gained back 1.5.

I would love some advice, thanks!

You might want to wait a couple of days to see if the meds will kick in.. I know once you get your carb cravings under control that will help with your moods too... Hang in there

      Hey, how's it going?

I would definitely wait til I know what the meds will do by themselves. Change one thing at a time, so you'll know what each does for you.

It won't hurt you too much to put Atkins back a week or two, because the results can come so fast. Just don't binge either.

I wouldn't look at it like I gained back 1.5 pounds either, because that's within my daily fluctuation. (but then, I'm a guy and it's a big swing) Don't beat yourself up over a small backslide ever, just get right back in there. It can take a while to get in the habit of staying on plan - but it will come easier every time and you'll forget about straying and you will get there!

Good luck on the meds - hope they're the right ones for you.
