  • SAD!

I can't stand it anymore!! I NEED SUN!!!!

I've been so down all weekend, and I can't motivate to do anything. I just started doing bootcamp this morning, so I really hope that will help motivate. Being as I'm accountable to someone other than my family.

My husband is out of town, and it's so cold out, and there's nothing to do that's different. I'm pissed cuz he's in KeyWest and he gets to go out and do stuff, and not have to deal w/ kids 24/7! I need a break so bad, I feel like screaming, but all I do is cry!

I've decided to up my meds even though it effects my "moods". ****, he's outa town anyway, so there! And I promised myself no matter how I feel, I'm gonna pamper myself today! And take that 1/2 hour bath I so desperately need!!!!

Sorry, just really needed to vent!!! I HATE THE WINTER!!!!

hey post away. Have you looked into the light box therapy for SAD? It works wonders and is only 20 min a day in your own home? You don't need the full specturn lights eoither as the UV rays don't effect the brain for seotonin production as originally though. You just need 10,000 lumes looking you in the eye for the 20 min.

Talk to your doc about it before you up the meds

Eye, I've missed you around the place, so I hope you are back for good.

I call that not being motivated to do anything my mental block - when I was bad with depression, it could be something as simple as doing the dishes - but it felt like I was trying to go climb a mountain or something.

The main way to get over it was to do as you are doing - take time out and pamper yourself. I'm never one for lists, but I know for some people writing down what you have to do and crossing the things off helps.

I just used to reward myself - if I got that job done that I just couldn't do, I'd let myself have an hour with a book, or get out a video or something. Notice that I no longer reward myself with food

Anyway hopefully some of these help until the sun comes out - or you are able to try out 2bigs idea.

      Look after yourself,

I'm with 2Big. I have the sun box, too. I'm not saying that it's a cure-all but it helps alleviate that sluggish feeling. I'm not kidding. It has to be 10,000 lux to be effective. It simulates 12 noon sun in the summer.
My brother laughed his rearend off when he saw it on my table a few years back. Well guess who has one now???
You should also look up SAD online or the full name "Seasonal Affective Disorder." Coupled with an "already" depression - it can really drag you down.
Good luck to you and know that you are not alone.

I can't recommend them enough either. I've had mine for over 5 years and it's still going strong (no bulb changes yet). Here's a link to one company: http://www.northernlighttechnologies.com/

Hey guys. I'm feeling a little bit better today. The kids are back in school and it's just me and my youngest. I started bootcamp yesterday, so that kinda put my butt in gear.

Also, I pampered myself. Part of the problem is that the kids have been stressing me out. I just need a 24 hour break! And not one in site. DH and I were supposed to go to New Orleans in Feb, but had to cancel do to funds. sigh. So now it's like the most exciting thing in my life won't happen til May. Well, by May, winter will hopefully be over.

I'll look at the light therapy. Sounds like it could work.

As far as my meds go. My doc already upped my meds to 40mg last summer, but it's really a hinderence to well, sex. So with permission, I started cutting them in half, and take the full 40 during PMS.. sigh, what are ya gonna do? So she told me I can take the full amount whenever I feel I need it.
