I previously posted this in the wrong forum- sorry- I was on this board for over a year- reached my goal- and then the bottom fell out! Last October my husband was riding his bicycle to work and was struck from behind by a semi- and was killed instantly. My life changed in the blink of an eye. I went off program- gained almost 20 lbs and my diabetes is totally out of control. I haven't been to a doctor since the accident- and rarely test. I know I am in denial. Tonight I logged on here after seeing some familiar folks still here- I know what I have to do- tomorrow I will get rid of all of the bad stuff and get back on induction. I know I will need your support. The weight issue is totally secondary to getting control of this area of my life. I am back, and will appreciate all of the support I can get!

Re: oops..
I am still doing induction- It is so difficult this time- but I know I have to stay with it. I have lost 9 lbs- I feel really good about that. There is so much stress right now- Christmas for the first time alone, I bought a condo and I am moving the day after Christmas, and then the criminal trial of the man who hit my husband is this week too. I feel like I am on a roller coaster- I hope I can stay on track- I am determined to, I think I am going to stay on induction until I get back down to where I was before- thanks for checking in on me!Donna

Re: oops..
gppd for you about sticking with your Atkins. controlling your eating is about the only thing you can control right now.
I hear you on the emotions of the holidays without a loved one for the first time. I started a topic in the depression forum to see if those of us going through this season could help each other out some. It was suggested to start new traditions but letting go of the old ones is really hard too.
Make sure you have your Atkins emergency kit packed and with you so you can stay on induction should you be temptedto jump off. Out of control blood sugars will not help you in any way.

Re: oops..
I am so sorry to hear about what happened to you.
All I can say is that with the love of community (there is plenty on this board) and being able to get excited and focus on a person goal, sometimes that is all we have to get us through tough times.
I wish you the best of luck. I know you will do well!Female, 21, 5'6"

This is a perfect example of life derailing our progress.
I feel that if society was more supportive of our WOE then it would have been easier to stick to plan (ie more restaurants, more Low Carb products, less junk).
But it's totally understandable.
I hope things go well, and you get things back on track for your health. My ADBB Journal here.

HI Sassy,
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I know you are busy moving and unpacking and I hope you are staying on plan. If not, don't fret. Just start again. Do your best everyday and start testing your BG again.
