      Re: New to this forum

      yeah ..........what are buffaloed nuts?

We are reading twice a day right now. Going to start doing more. Seems like we are just running in circles between Drs. visits, meds etc. I know, we will adjust.
The readings are taking a slow down. The 114 was the lowest last night. This morning was 122. So, we will see what the day brings. The first one we did was 169 (on Thrusday morning) and they have been dropping since.

          good for you guys Bren
morning higher blood sugar can be a biological funtion of the body getting ready to be up and raising blood sugar slightly so you can get going.

Coop has a great stickie baout whne to test and why if you haven't read it.

Buffaloed nuts are buffalo chicken wings with nuts instead of chicken.

you can to it one of 2 ways you can carefully roast your nuts and toss them wiht your favorite buffalo wing suace mine is 1/2 cup hot sauce to 1/3 cup (Butter/oil mix) and then roast again a few min to dry

or you can if you eyes and nose can handle it "cook" the nuts in the hot sauce mix. you toss the raw nuts in sauce and then in either the oven or skillet cook them about 15-20 min in a hot oven but watch for burning and shake often, then cool and eat. if you do a batch you got to keep them in the frige

Thank you for the recipe. Sounds like a filling, fun treat. And thanks for the "welcome". I have been gone a long time and just started the low carb life again early this year. My husband started 1 week ago when his blood sugar readings came up over 250 and scared the stuffing out of him.

                Re: New to this forum

Oh no, I'm so lucky. I'm just overweight. My blood sugar is excellent. I bought copies of Bernstein's book because I have a girlfriend with diabetes and was horrified to "see" my husband in the profiles and descriptions. I got a monitor and his readings were super high. We are going to attempt diet and exercise before we even consider going through what you are experiencing. I think we can probably "cure" him with diet, exercise and weight loss. Thanks for asking. I am following your saga with interest. I am praying that your husband's situation will rectify soon.
                Hugs,

oh and don't use all the sauce on 1 serving of nuts. I do one and freeze the rest of the sauce mix or use it up on chicken

Beverle we have many folk who have lowered blood sugars back to mornal that were prediabetic when they started. Hope your husband is one too.

Bren if he is losing weight eating all that sugar or staying that skinny eating all that sugar that is a huge symptom he was diabetic cause diabetics can't process the carbs they consume cause of the lack of insulin and poof they eat more and more of them but lose weight.

                        Bren:
Stop beating yourself up. He is the one wearing the body and he didn't catch it either ...and he had to be feeling like crap! Get Bernstein's book and read, read, read. The more you know, the stronger you will feel. Doctors are OK, but you need to arm yourself. Now that you do know you are way ahead of the game.

Now she tells me! I just dumped and poured. They were/are good and very hard to stop eating.

In my heart I believe he will be one. He is quite overweight and a true carb lover but he is also dedicated to getting better. Our problem right now is that he almost broke his ankle 2 weeks ago and has been quite sedentary because of it. Here is an interesting. I have been making him come to work (we work together...our own shop) so he has been walking some and working. Yesterday, Saturday, he stayed home and just sat on the couch all day. His BG readings were at least 30 points higher than any other time in the week. He was able to see that he needs to move, even if it hurts some.

if his ankle is injured his doc might prescribe some PT and some nonweight bearing exercises for him if you ask. Got to push those docs cause less isn't always best.

We are doing Linda! Next week we attend the classes at the local hospital. Which we are both anxious to go to. His BS and BP are both leveling off so today I have to make the appointment for the stress test, and of course I read the script for it and it stated "abnormal EKG". One day at a time. Monday we go back to the eye doctor to see if the swelling is down. If it is then he can start the series of lazer surguries for his eyes.
