On Way To ER Possible Gangrene

I have had an infected ingrown toenail for almost 3 months. The pus was really smelly and now the nail is turning black. I was to have surgury on it this wedsnday but dh is taking me to ER ASAP.

I'm really scared and don't know what to expect. It's about a 1/4 of my big toenail that is black.

I have my WLS next week. How did I let myself get like this? I am so depressed.

a nail turning black isn't always bad now iF the toe was turning black. good for hubby just keep thiniking I can do this. we will all be praying for you.

Dr. Said it's infection, but tissues are alive so no gangrene. Dh panicked! i go tomorrow for toe surgury, hopefully that will heal fine. I'm hoping afdter my WLS my suger is better and the rest of me gets better. Thanks for everyone's concern.

Glad you are okay. remeber to follow instructions for youor antibiotic and know that active immune systems can wreck havoc with blood sugar. also check your antibiotic for any blood sugar issues.

Praying your toe surgery is successful and has no adverse effects on your WLS surgery.

2big what exactly does it mean that an active immune system can wreck havoc. I haven't been able to think straight for the past few days so maybe that's why I can't understand what you mean.

when our immune system is fight8ng off an infection ( being active) it gets priority from many body systems and it gets what it asks for and some times that can cause the blood sugars to go up which spike insulin production and poof you are havign cravings and stuff.

Thanks AGAIN 2Big. I went for my ytoe surgury yesterday but the surgeon postponed it until after my WLS. He did not want to spread anything into my blood stream.

good for him. make sure your WLS surgeon knows about the toe cause they may postpone it until you are cleared up.
