Forgive me if this question is dumb, I'm fairly clueless when it comes to diabetes. My father is borderline diabetic (controlled with diet) and I have an uncle who needs to use insulin. I've noticed the last several months that I'd feel bad after eating a lot - stomach upset, just a general icky feeling over all. Just out of curiousity I went and had a fasting blood sugar test for diabetes this week and I was given my results by a nurse. She said that the normal range the fasting blood sugar test I took is 65-99, and my blood sugar was literally 99. I asked what that meant, and she said it's not at the point where they'd be very concerned, but I should watch my carbs and sugar and they considered me "pre-diabetic". Well I said but I'm on Atkins, I already watch my carbs and sugar, and is it more concerning to have a high reading if I'm already watching what I eat and she said possibly.
My question though is I did stumble a bit on my diet this weekend - Saturday night I had some pizza (yes with the crust
). I took the blood test on Tuesday morning - would that pizza still be affecting my blood sugar after 3 days and fasting 12 hours prior to my test? I'm just not sure if I should be more concerned that my blood sugar tested high if overall I'm eating low carb and low sugar already. Any feedback, please?

...Was in HEAVEN -got to 150, for awhile, then got too busy, and gave in too much... and... OK holding pattern "keep it together..."

Ok,, ... so just assuming all else constant, after 6oz excess protein (ie not currently needed for your protein storage or tissue repair), how many carb grams are available from 6 oz protein?
