Ok so here is a first for me...My Bg's were dropping to low 70's range and I got scared so I am drinking about 4 oz's of orange juice to bring it back upas per doctors instructions. Does anyone think this will effect my ketosis. It is unsweetened natural juice.

Re: Low Blood Sugar and orange juice
yes. Oranges still have sugar in them... lots of sugar in them, and juice is more concentrated sugar wise... which would be why your dr. suggested it to bring up your levels...27/f/5'10"

Re: Low Blood Sugar and orange juice
The short period that you may be thrown out of ketosis is much better than the ill-effects of hypoglycemia. Talk with your doctor about possibly reducing/ eliminating your meds. Are you insulin-dependent, or are you on oral hypoglycemics? The unsweetened juice was - by far - the best choice that you could make. You really don't want to play around with your BS, because with that little snapshot - you don't know if your BS has finished dropping.... or if it is still in the process of dropping, you know? Trying to use a more complex carb to stabilize BS could be dangerous (in that the BS will continue to drop before the CC is processed and absorbed).
Good news is that you're heading in the right direction physically. As you lose more weight, your body will be able to take care of its own!
