  • Anyone on Lipitor

I just started taking Lipitor to prevent heart disease. I also take Altace and baby asprin for the same reason. My Dr says neither one will affect my weight loss. I would be interested in other peoples experience with Lipitor.

I take 45mg of Actos (pioglitazone) daily to control my type II diabetes. My last A1C as 6.00. Which is excellent control in Canada.

      Hi Canuck,

Thanks for the reply. I feel a lot better today. I hope that means my body is adjusting to the Lipitor. I hate starting new meds but if a little white pill will help prevent heart disease it is worth it. My LDL is 2.52 the lab says below 2.50 is best, so I am just a tich over and I am not worried about it.

Good luck with getting your LDL down.

Thats excellent, new Cdn standards for diabetes is 2.8 now so they almost make it unattainable without drugs. But there is a big push for diabetes to have tight tight control so complicaitons are less as you age.
Its the ratio and trig that are a concern and mine are good but scan showed blockage so decided to try it for ahwile.
Its minus 30 C here, is it cold where you are.I am in Rockies.

I'm in the Okanagan Valley and it is about -2 and snowing lightly. The view from your window is wonderful.

I'm on Lipitor as well (also on 45 mg Actos a day as you are). My doctor is finding that my CPK levels are elevated, so I may have to discontinue using it. More blood work this month to make the determination. It has been helping keep my LDL down though.

Well, it seems like every week I get tested, but it is every 3-4 months. Since being on Lipitor, my endo has tested me three times, the last on Dec 22, and he has me scheduled for another round of bloodwork in mid-January.

I'll give you the update when I have it.
