Only a fasting two hour glucose tolerance test can diagnose you so you would have to go off atkins for four days, read above sticky so you do it right. Could be hypoglemcia, did I miss something though, could you post your fasting bg and two hrs bg for several days and let us see a pattern or not.
it shouldn’t move around allot if doing Atkins now for 5 weeks but would when eating hi carbs, worse trtment for hypo is sugary things but that’s what docs often tell you.
Amber you don’t know how happy I am seeing you post here, you have done just awesome....goodonyagirl
I haven't a clue on what my BG's are at any time, dont' have a monitor.
But my blood test with the gp is wednesday this week, so will be fasting the night before. They seem to do it differently here (uk) only one blood test and that's with a night of fasting. So can't eat after 7pm my appointment is 9.20 or something.. I KNOW i'll be shaking by then.
My gp was really dismissive as I was diagnosed borderline epileptic years ago at the first black outs, but I really think this was a case that my mum gave the wrong info to my then gp. I never had a blood test for it.
So, we'll see what they have to say.
I've come off low carb as read up the sticky (thanks). I'm low fatting it a bit - and am continuing to lose weight and more importantly not GAIN anything after coming off atkins. I did gain 3lb but am down that again now.
Am taking good carbs with me for after the test as have to be out and about by 11am.
P.S. I didn't wait to make the appointment I went in to chat to him after my last message.. it was around 2 weeks for an appointment first thing in the morning! :yikes
Did you ask for the glucose tolerance test, fasting BG only tells what you ate night before and how you are that morning, next day could eat differently and fasting could be sky hi or lo lo.I'd push for accurate diagnosis as sounds like too many loose ends for my liking but it’s up toy ou.
No right diagnosis without right tests.
if you are low fatting low carbing then you are high proteining and that can cause blood sugar issues as proteins are copnverted to sugars fro fuel too.
The test Canuck is talking about isn't the one you are getting and you don't have to nor should you alter your eating for this one.
THE GTT is the one you have to come off low carb for 3 days prior to the testing.
