  • Diagnosis Diabetes Ugh!

Monday I went back in for the test results after having a 199 reading at the Podiatrist office the previous Friday (8/25). By the time I got to the Doctor 4 hours later, my bg was 135. But, Monday the AC1, or is it A1C was 7.5.

I was handed a script for 1000mg Metformin , and braced myself for the Low Fat speech. I knew how I would be controlling my eating and how I would get off the Metformin quickly. But I had not decided just how I was going to finesse the situation with this new doctor. I trusted him immediately and wanted to continue seeing him.

He bagan the 'foods speech' with the low-fat verbage then I was shocked when he said I don't want you doing that. Then he said: "That's all a LIE and I don't want you following a low fat diet.

"I don't care if you eat butter, I think it is better for you than processed oils. I don't care if you eat meat, in fact I want you to eat meat, nuts, veggies, and have an occassional potato or a corn tortilla. Just don't eat Wheat or Sugar."

He mentioned Atkins, how it's popularity had faded but was a good program! I might want to look over the diet, he said. Didn't want me on induction. I didn't ask why, I was so thrilled to know he understood the TRUTH!

I just stuttered and said 'I believe like you believe.' I know it sounded crazy like we both believe in aliens or something. I think he was just as surprised that I was on-board and understood. I think he may think I don't understand but he will see on the lab tests that I do and am 'on it'.

I am so pleased to have been lead to this doctor and to have him on board with what I know to be TRUTH and for him to call all the LowFat stuff a LIE totally made my day. I've lost 3.5 pounds since Monday and hope to be down 30+ when I go back for blood work early November.

I just had to share my wonderful Doc story.
