Returned to Atkins after long absence. Started the first part of April. Morning tests are now averaging about 100. First time in a long time. My Group Health Cooperative nurse (nice nag) is happy. So am I.

Re: Better BS numbers
Carole, still doing well. BS numbers good, easing back on my glyburide. Ten pounds gone as of today. Another dozen to go.
All the best.

Re: Better BS numbers
Ten pounds to go. BS ok. I grabbed lunch at a Chinese buffet a couple of days ago and, even trying to minimize the effect, my BS was up. As the teenager I met kayaking on the west coast of Vancouver Island said, "I'd kill for a cheesburger or pizza." He'd been out for a week "bonding" with his father and living off the fish they caught. Actually a good kid who valued the experience and his dad's efforts. They built home made plywood kayaks and then took them out for a week on the Pacific Ocean.
Well enough of that, we all keep moving forward dealing with our diabetes.
Good luck to all.

Re: Better BS numbers
It is amazing what this diet can do for your BS. My sugar was way over 7 (alc). It is now 5.8 and stable. I am now reducing my insulin pills and insulin at night. (per M.D advice.) It has been a slow course of weight loss but I have managed to lose 14 lbs. It took me 4 months but today I finally saw a 2 lb loss again. Stick to the program and I am sure it will work. Congrads on your numbers. AudreysigpicOriginal start wt: 269.5 January 1 03

Good for you Audrey -- it is slow going for us because of the meds we take but we do loose! I was showing the same weight for a couple weeks but got up Saturday and thought I needed to weigh for the end of a challenge (I was wrong it's NEXT Saturday) and have lost another 2 pounds - so I am at 32 pounds in 4 months. I've upped my exercise and added more food to my daily routine and the pounds came off...amazing! Good luck to you bothCarole_____________________May Water 130oz daily

Re: Better BS numbers
Audrey and Carole, keep up the good work and thanks for the support. I'm really sensitive to carbs. I took my granddaughter to dinner at the restaurant of her choice. Decided, what the heck, I'll do dinner. Ate everything. BS up dramatically the next morning. Back to Atkins and it's down this morning.
Reduced my glyburide over the last few weeks. Now's time for a new A1C.
