You know, it took me eating a different way to figure out that the Atkins woe is the only way that I can keep my blood sugars in check. Even though I haven't lost much at all, only 1/2 lb according to my docs scale. I was listening to one of Kent's videos on YouTube about diabetes. He sited one study which said that some diabetics were able to greatly decrease, and even get off their meds all together. So, I will continue to work on getting my A1c down even further and keeping it there. The last blood work I had the A1c was 6.2. I think if I could get it down in the 5's I might be able to get off the meds. Keeping my fingers crossed. All the support here sure helps!

    Re: Hind sight

When I was diagnosed last June my A1C was 10.3 -- I've seen my endocrinologist twice since .... the last time I went my A1C was 5 so by starting Atkins on January 5 I was able to take my number in half.

I am still on medicine but I have more than diabetes wrong with me and the endo said she wanted to keep me on Metformin because it was a good med for diabetes and other things. I'm hoping to get off the meds or at least get it reduced the net time I go. I'm suppose to have a new blood test done before I see her again in 3 months so we'll see if anything changes between now and then.

I'm really glad you came back -- I see how this has changed my numbers in the last 6 months and truly believe it's the way to go!
