  • Question about blood sugar

    Hey all!
Since I was diagnosed with type 2, i have been a true low-carber and couldn't be happier with the results!!!! My question is with unusual elevation in blood sugars with no change to diet. Have any of you ever expericned the following:
1 . Elevated blood sugars following a flu shot? And if so, for how long?
    2. Elevated blood sugars when sick such as flu, head cold, viral infection?

I was also wondering if there is anyone out there who is type 2 on atkins and pregnant? My hubby and I will be trying soon and I am concerned if the low carb lifestyle is ok while you are pregnant. Also, do blood sugars start to go up when you do become pregnant???

Any help to these questions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

      Re: Question about blood sugar

When I've been sick my blood sugars are always higher. My mother is also type 2 and her sugars will run 50 to 100 points higher than when she's well.

Can't help you with the pregnancy question. I know the book says if you are nursing you should follow the maintenance part of the program. Check the book to see what it says.
