I went to the ER today with what I thought were symptoms of an allergic reaction, turns out it was mostly an anxiety attack. However my random blood sugar was 198..or 190 something. The ER told me that I need to see my primary care physician within the next 3-5 days to get tested. He said it was not horribly high..but too high..but he was not saying I had diabetes..so he said.
I have had labs done twice recently. There were not fasting just random. But one I know was 95 and the other not out of range because they didn't note it was. I am very concerned about an prediabetes or diabetes diagnosis. Beyond simply not wanting to have this!!..it is an uninsurable condition in my state of GA. I am currently on state health insurance that I will lose in March and will not be able to get again barring something horrible like my husband has no more work. After that if I have a diagnosis of diabetes I will be out of luck getting health insurance.
I was just reading Dr Atkins Diabetes Revolution online. He said to eat carbs for a few days before any testing to show what it does to get baselines. Well, if I plan to stick to this diet and improves my blood sugar why not do it now before the testing? If it means I will possibly still be insurable....I am not sure how helpful it would truly be to me to not start the diet now for a week before any testing is done. What would you do? If it doesn't help quickly and I really have serious issues that need drugs..so be it. But I am so tempted to just start this diet right now for any help I can get. I am already exercising every day now and have for nearly 3 weeks. I have made HUGE changes in my lifestyle and plan to stick with them.
I was just not prepared for this.....
