  • New To Atkins

    Hi Everyone,

I start induction on Monday! I am so excited to get started. I have type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol and I wanted to know if anyone else with these two issues had any success with Atkins and improving there overall health on Diabetes. Thanks

    Re: New To Atkins

    Welcome to Atkins,
I came here 2 weeks ago...my doctor had told me that I was pre-diabetic and needed to get my arse in gear!! So, I came here...I haven't tested my bld again just yet, but what I can tell you is that I have more energy, I have lost inches, and I no longer thirst like I was before! So I would assume that things are going well. I am going to get another bld test next friday so I am keeping my fingers crossed!
I have read alot about ppl who have done atkins and improved their levels of both bld sugar and cholesterol drastically!
All I can say is, keep with the book and listen to the ppl on this site and you will see changes very soon

    Good luck,

    Jules

        Re: New To Atkins

        Hi & welcome
I just started back yesterday myself. Have been here for a while lost & then due to family problems fell by the wayside.
I have type 2 diabetes & my colestrol is high again also. Last year I was taking 8 meds plus 2 insulin injections a day just for my diabetes. Doing atkins I was able to completely stop my insulin & cut back my meds to 3 a day. My colestrol came back to normal & I felt great.
After some tests last week I found my pancreas is shutting down my BGL is way high again so I am back on insulin. But just one day of clean induction and this morning my BGL had dropped a lot almost to within normal range. So yes this way of eating will and can improve your diabetes & colestrol as well as shed those pounds you will feel better less tired happier and you get to eat real food.
I wish you well on your journey. Post often & ask questions. Everyone here will help you they are amazingly generous with their time and advice.
        Good luck
        Hugs
        Wendy
