Well I turned 55 on the 20th, I am taking my pension early to travel and do things.
I had about 100 people from all over attend a big keg bash, my two brothers play in rock and roll old time bands like Beetle’s, Rolling stone’s ,Eagles and new country rock, so had a garage full of bands playing and rented a huge honkin 30x30 tent and we danced and sang and drank beer till 7am.
I never had a voice for four days after as we sang every song we knew and I had classmates come from northern Manitoba, 17 hr drive to get here and they left to go back home the next day as had to work, Man that felt good to know how many people love me!!!
.I had friends from old nursing training days, elementary school, hi school, and I surprised all my family by sneaking my kid sister over from Costa Rica. We hid her in the trunk of the car and I sent my four brothers out to get beer from the trunk and she was lying in there waiting to surprise them and you never saw so many grown men cry their face off all at once, it was truly amazing!!!
Man did we rock and had a blast, I wore my first pair ever of blue jeans and wowed the crowd as most my old friends have not seen me since my weight loss. I used to be the biggest person in the group and now they are all bigger than me.
I stayed low carb drinking wine or rum and diet coke and danced off about 10, 000 calories, I had few carbs I don’t normally have but gained only 1 lb in a whole week of celebrating.
I now have my home recleaned from all these folks, my voice back and am back to low carbing my way thru life.
It was such fun to be with all the special people in my life and I didn’t want gifts but am starting a project for fresh drinking wells in Cambodia and sponsoring a school to get a well and a latrine so people gave me donations towards that instead.
I am so excited and feel good.
If I had not been low carbing I think I would have been taking my pension check early as I was thinking I am gonna die young having diabetes and so out of control and always starved….so may as well get it now and spend it……… but now ………am traveling to all kinds of exotic places I have only dreamed of.
I just booked us a big trip next Feb. to Kenya where we will see all the big animals and explore the national parks there. If I had not done Atkins and reclaimed my health, I could never do this.I never had energy and needed to nap two plus hrs a day.
I am not bragging but I am proud of Atkins for finding a way for me to work hard, play hard and live hard as that is when I am the happiest.
I share this with you for those who are just beginning and struggling and fall off the wagon, or find their blood sugars are not dropping fast enough and you start thinking “Oh heck this will never work for me†It will…. just plod along….. do it forever, it is not a short time change it is the way you eat and breath and drink and the way that will keep you alive a long long time.
Hang in, plod along, write us here if frustrated or need help or need to vent but don’t give up. Diabetics have more to lose than weight and we are not like some of the folks on induction who whine when they can’t drink milk or eat nuts, we lose years off our life when we cheat and eat hi carbs and we will die younger, none of us want that……….. so …………..spring into life and eat the right way.... the low carb way.
It will all come together eventually folks!!!
Now I have to go cash in all those beer bottles and am gonna put it towards my fresh water fund!!
:wave
