  • dr. phil's book

i am not a huge fan of the man but i picked up his book with the hopes of helping me gain control over my eating. he has a 7 step plan to gain control of your life- i dont know if it works but i am now more aware of the stages i go through with regards to emotional eating. so i follow atkins with a dr. phil on the side. i highly recommend the read- it is not difficult to get into and hopefully it helps.

        Re: dr. phil's book

I read Dr. Phil's book and I found it interesting in terms of the emotional side of dieting. I suffer from low self esteem and his ideas help me stay focused on me instead of everyone else in my life. I also like his attitude toward a "healthy weight." I get caught up in the media's image of a perfect woman, even though 120 is below a healthy BMI for me. I think Dr Phil's book also stresses the impact of environment on your diet, like removing all the "bad food" from the house and surrounding yourself with supportive people.

Atkin's works for me like nothing else, but I think Dr. Phil's book hits on the emotional aspect of any WOL.

          Re: dr. phil's book

i am on day 10 of induction after my restart and after reading dr. phil. i don't know if it has helped but i am definately more aware of my food issues and so far i have been able to talk myself out of a few cheats. the weekends are the hardest because we normally go out to eat, but i am committed and haven't cheated at all. i know atkins is for me, but i have definately taken dr. phils words and applied them to my life- we will see, it is an ongoing battle but so far so good.
