  • Danger Ahead!

boy am i nervous. i'm really frightened, as my husband who's having chemo, had a scan yesterday, and the results of that will be known to us next week. he's halfway through the chemo course.
tonight i have my closest friend coming over for dinner. i am cooking a side of salmon. which is fine for me on induction, but for desert i am serving a chocolate tart. now spookily enough, i don't really like dark chocolate, and especially not in tarts and such like, but i'm afraid that i will lick the knife after cutting the tart up, and then my compulsion and need for comfort-eating will take over, plus i have loads of sweets by the front door for the trick or treaters.
so how am i going to manage this situation? (i'm on day 3 of induction and for the last 4 days have managed not too badly.)
well i've just had turkey, cheese and mayo....and am drinking loads of water. as i'm in a 'dangerous' time at the moment, i shall allow myself some more mayo at dinner, so that should satisfy me. i'm hoping that although i'm probably not completely in ketosis, i feel i'm on the way. i've done atkins before some 18 months ago and have some experience in this.
anyway wish me luck for this evening, and let's all pray that none of us fall off the wagon with all these goodies lying around.

The fact that you fear that you may lick the knife may be enough to stop you from doing it.

Have you seen the recipe for "clouds" anywhere on the board at all? That could help you in an emergency.

    Good luck mickigirl

Well we got through haloween, and i didn't touch the chocolate tart, and didn't fancy any of the halloween sweeties anyway!
That shows you the power of these boards. I think in retrospect, that because I posted my anxieties here, and received encouragement....I was definately less prone to 'secretly eat'. Once again thank you to these boards and this forum as well, for giving me the extra support I need to stay on track.
I feel quite pleased with myself for overcoming yet another small hurdle, in the fight to stay on this woe.
              Hooray!!!!!
