    Re: destined to be fat

There ARE lots of us who have started over and over. I was really down on myself for regaining. However it was pointed out to me this way~ the alternative to not trying is getting fatter and fatter. Well we don't want that. I guess my point is just keep trying. As far as imsimnia goes. Try increasing your exercise early in the day. Magnesium at night helps you relax. You can do it!!!

Stop the pity party. Get up, dust your bootie off, and keep walking.
No one is destined to be fat; otherwise, we would have been born fat (well, with more than a little baby fat).
Keep trying, maybe by the 200th time at induction you'll be able to stay on the wagon. You can do this. The only reason why a person has no will power is because they don't want to have will power. You can do this!
      It's just fat, that's it.

I struggle with the chocolate thing as well. Believe me, it's terrible! I crave carbage, most days but that doesn't mean I'm going to give in. Nope, I am not.
I've fallen off the wagon a few times in the 3 months I've been doing Atkins. However, I get up and get back on the band wagon because I can't give up on my weight loss. I've lost 25lbs and I couldn't be happier.

Don't give up, you're only cheating yourself of your goal. No food item is worth that.

If you keep telling yourself you have no willpower... you will have no willpower. Talk to yourself in a positve way. Get up each day and tell yourself ~ I have willpower... I am getting healthy and strong ~ Or whatever makes you feel good about yourself. The more you keep saying it... the more it will happen in your life. I am a big believer in thoughts becoming things. Speak positive!!! Tell yourself you can do it!!! Even if you don't believe it... say it and then say it again and again until you see it!

Sommer...have you asked yourself why you are jeopardizing your goal? What happens every time you start induction to make you quit? Once you find out what it is that is making you turn back to the foods that are making your life miserable, then you can develop some solutions.

A few questions come to mind when I hear you say you are re-starting all the time:

When you start induction, do you go into it with the feeling of walking the plank? Are feeling deprived?

Are you making a list of the foods that are acceptable and figuring out recipes and meals that you like with these foods?

Are you exercising? (Exercise will give your body a boost and make you feel better about yourself and your decision to get in shape)(It will also help you sleep better). Are you measuring? (this is the best way to feel positive about the changes you are making.)

Do you have a visual of what you can accomplish if you stick to the program? Do you have photos of yourself or someone else at the weight you want to get to?

Are you keeping a food journal, writing out your thoughts/feelings so that you can see what foods effect you in various ways?

It isn't easy..but it isn't impossible. Give yourself a pep-talk. You can do it. Talk/think positive everyday. Write yourself an affirmation of what you want and what it will do for you to achieve it.

Before you go to bed at night...tell yourself how important this is to you and that you are going to make the effort to do it. When you wake in the morning, tell yourself you are worth it and what you are going to do to achieve success. Then do it.

Give it a month...when you see how great you feel and the weight you've lost, it will give you motivation to keep going. Anytime you feel you are losing control....come here. The members understand.

                Re: destined to be fat

If you are someone who starts and stops eating a low carb diet, I suggest that you come up with a solid basic eating plan to fall back on. I start and stop doing induction frequently, I admit. However, I have a few principles which keep me from gaining any significant weight. Here are a few things to think about and I hope it helps out.

If you start and stop induction repeatedly I suggest that when you stop induction you simply fall back on eating at a higher rung in atkins ladder. For example, if you get frustrated and want to quit, throw in some beans or just eat veggies one day, at least your probably not going to gain any weight (though water gain of falling out of ketosis sometimes will make you think you did).

There are a few insights to living low carb that are fundamental to being successful and if you don't realize this, you can never be successful at loosing weight on the atkins or just about any other diet, for that matter.

95% of the food in convenience stores and restaruants has too much carbs in it to loose weight. If you want to loose weight you have to decide to NOT buy food from these establishments. The whole existence of these kinds of places is to make you fat and they will if you let them. If that is too difficult to do, then you are destined to be fat, sorry just accept it and get on with your life as a fat person.

I firmly believe that you can't loose weight unless you make your own food. that's one thing I learned by doing the atkins. Though making your own food doesn't necessarily mean you WILL loose weight. However by staying in the veggie/meat/dairy sections when you shop, you can limit the chances of buying things that will make you fat.

At any given time, your only going to be doing one of 3 things. Gaining weight, loosing weight or staying the same. I've only found 3 ways to loose weight in my life. Cut calories, ketosis and a strict vegan diet. everything else I do besides these 3, is either keeping me at my current weight or I am gaining weight. Exercise just helps me keep my weight stable or if I am loosing weight, it just helps me loose it faster, it alone doesn't help me loose weight (when I was 20 yrs. old it did though).

Just a few thoughts to keep in mind and I hope it helps.

Yup... I did really good at the start and now.. I'm sort of at a stand still. My own fault but a stand still is not a gain!!!

One thing that helps me through these times is to set very small goals.. I tell myself that I can commit to being good for one day. Just a day... If there is something I really crave I tell myself "no, not today, tomorrow if you still want it" But??? You know about tomorrow? Don't you? It never comes!

The next day I commit to myself again and again... until I don't have to do it a day at a time... it's just what I do! I care about me...

Sommer...you can do this.. What you need to do the first week is keeping telling yourself...each day I can do this.. When Day two gets hard...remember to tell yourself that after day 4 it will be easier.. Once you get those bad carbs out of your system it will get much easier.. I am having a hard day...craving junk stuff.. But I am hanging in there.. I know you can do it!
