  • I feel like emotions control my appetite

:help I am constantly fighting my emotions. I am doing that at this moment. I am 33, and I have had 1 failed marriage. I have a relationship that absolutely sucks. The minute I think I'm away from him here he comes again to play with mind. This leads to me eating. I just have to be strong and kick this emotional habit to the curve.

That is where I need you guys to encourage me. :hug I really love this board. I do a lot of reading. I need that to get me thru not grabbing that snickers.

I guess I just needed to get that out in the open. Let the healing start.[/code]

:hug :hug alot of us have been raised with food as a comforter little kid crying here have a cookie crying stops fell down wnet boom here have a cookie and so on. our brqins logged all those feelings we had before and after the food and knew just what cookie and what brand we needed the next time. our brains also file and store what food causes what emotional changes in us do to the mimicing of neural transmitters many foods cause. choclate is a big one.

It is very hard for us to break those bonds but we can. keep a food journal listing who you are feeling before you eat and after you eat what you ate and who was with you. soon you will see patterns emerge and can take steps to break those patterns even if it means not meeting your bestest buds for coffee. You can also try different new behaviors to deal with those moods but you need to be consistant so your brain can replace the food as comfort with the new say exercise as my anger comfort. it will take time but you will see the call for foods will grow weaker as long as you don't cave and feed the emotion instead of feed your hunger.
