  • Low carb Choc Monster strikes again

    Hi everyone,

I was doing pretty well for the first week or so. But yet again the low carb chocolate monster has raised its ugly head. It usually happens after lunch and before bed when I feel like I need to eat something sweet.

I am so annoyed with myself. i don't miss the usual carbs like bread, rice, cakes etc but the low carb sweets get me every time. I know they are stalling me but I can't control myself.

has anyone else had this monster chasing them?

What can I do to stop this please?

    Thanks Felix

What about a cup of cocoa which you can make legal, or cocoa mixed in some cream cheese with a pack of splenda. You need to fight the cravings but a legal treat would be better than frankenfood.

you need to eat as low blood sugar drives cravings if they hit at the same time every day so fix an induction legal snack. if it is the neurotransmitters the chocolate mimics then the blobs or the cocoa will work fine but remember to count your carbs.

If you are still taking any diabetic meds you might want to discuss with your doc about your afternoon cravings what is your blood sugar then?

Thanks to you both for your advice,

I'm not sure whether it is low blood sugar or just habit. I'm a true addict. i need to have it in the house or i panic I seem to have replaced my chocolate habit with a LC chocolate habit!

I'll try your tips with legal substitutes and the frankenfoods are going in the bin. I don't know why I think that I can eat them and get away with it as they stall me every time.

(I'm not diabetic but hypothyroid toolate. But I do suffer with low blood sugar).

I've given it up before so I know I can do it.

        Here goes.

I know how you feel. I am a total Choco-holic!! They need to have CA meetings (chocoholics anonymous! hee hee) I get it from my Dad who is the same way. I just can't buy the low carb chocolate treats anymore. They make me stall so bad and are not worth it. Good luck!

I love the chocolate too. When I need something sweet, I get a spoon of LC peanut butter.

Yes I found the low carb chocolate was waayyy too addictive.

Funny thing was, it didn't even really taste all that great...

I think it's something about the fake sweeteners, you're body reacts and thinks you're getting some carbs. Maybe you don't really have any, but then the next day your body - just like a little kid - says "hey you gave me some yesterday, where is it?"

My first time around on Atkins I never stumbled at all, just kept chugging along losing -- until the low carb products came out. They eventually helped bring my weight loss to a halt the first time around.

I highly recommend avoiding ALL of them.

Re: Low carb Choc Monster strikes again

I lost 50 pounds the first time around without any chocolate.

But, the wave of low carb sweets engulfed me and the rest
                is sad history.

I'm definitely avoiding them. I'll try a legal treat and count the
                carbs instead.

I tried the chocolate blobs this weekend for the first time, they weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be!

that lc choc monster stalks me too . . . man i love that stuff! so i'm trying to add some davinci vanilla and cocoa powder to heavy cream and whip it up - it satisfies! and it's great frozen!

also gonna try to add some cream cheese to the mix and freeze that in our popsicle moulds - anything to tame the chocolate beast!

Re: Low carb Choc Monster strikes again

I have fallen victim to them too (a time or two)

                      I find that if I don't buy them, I don't eat them : )
But if I buy them, wow a week's supply gone in a day...how did that happen?!

Yeah, so the moral of my story is that I have NO self-control over them so I have been choosing NOT to buy them, because I know what happens when I do.....
