  • Thankful For Your Body on Thanksgiving 06

I challenge you to join the Thanksgiving challenge.

Basically, most people congregate with their extended families on Thanksgiving
Day. I encourage you to join me in pushing yourself harder than usual. Now is the time to make a switch from walking to jogging, walking to cycling, to running...etc. This is a great time to introduce light weight with heavy repitition training.

    The rules are simple...
    1. Weigh your lbs lost and report them on this thread every Sunday
    2. By Thanksgiving, try to accomplish losing 20lbs or more.

Simple enough and effective, this should encourage you to get a little more serious about making your goal. When people work together for a positive goal, positive things shall come from this.

PS..Weight loss shown on Thanksgiving may encourage family members to jump aboard

        E-clipse,

I think this is a great idea! I hope to lose more than 20 pounds in the next four months but I will be thankful for 20.

As far as the upping of the exercise goes, I started Hal Higdon's 30/30 plan this morning and have set forth the following goals for myself:
Oct 14 - 2.5 mile run in Central IL
Nov 23 - 3.1 mile run in Elmhurst, IL
        Apr 15 - 13 mile run/walk St. Louis (2007)

I know these goals might seem lofty, but as my signature says "ImCommitted"!

I'll join in too...but...I'm in a no-weigh challenge so can't weigh until then.

I'll be about 10lbs from goal by loosing the 20lbs, so this is good for me. A good challenge to kick up the exercise is always good.

          Count me in.

            Current goal loss 5 lbs.

That is great news guys! I have lost 5 lbs so far. I have been doing light weight high rep weight lifting every 2 days. My arms are getting huge! I'm shocked as to how little you have to do to get great results. Honestly, I am only using 20 lb dumbells. However, I spot focus on biceps, shoulders, triceps, forearms, and chest. I have also begun pushups. I started the abs challenge, but have failed to keep up, considering my abs get too sore from the workout.
Maybe, I can remedy that soon.

Just checking in for this challenge. I've lost four pounds since I started. I've increased my activity and have made a point to exercise six days a week even when I don't feel like it.

I've lost a total of 7-8 pounds (up one today for some strange reason). Went to the health club this morning and did Hal Higdon's 30/30 program day 2.

Also did 10 minutes on rowing machine and 25 minutes on a recumbent bike. Burned almost 600 calories according to my Polar HRM.

                Have a great day!

I'd like to be at Goal by Thanksgiving...or at least what I originally called my 'goal' of 185. I might try to go to 175.

I feel ya. Somedays, I don't want to workout, so I remind myself of how emotionally miserable I will feel if I skip the exercise. I don't want to let myself down.

Just doing my weekly check. My weight isn't changing but my attitude is improving. When life gets hectic and crazy I forgo my exercising which is dumb, dumb, dumb because it is usually what I need to find peace and calm amidst the chaos of life.
