  • Triathalon

Ok, so I realize some folks don't spend all day in the "Journal Chats" forum like the rest of us, so I'm making a public announcement:

Hear ye!! Hear ye!! Year he!! There will be a Triathalon starting 01 December 2006.

The three "stages" of it will be: Treadmill, Elliptical, Bicycle.

By treadmill we mean anything that makes you walk, run, jog or hop (in other words, it can be outside not just on a machine). EACH leg is 30 miles long. You must complete them IN ORDER. There is a 6 week time limit to complete all three stages.

You will be forced to check in, we will track you, hunt you, and keep you off your tushie (I know how to push people down stairs you know).

Sign up here, in the journals (I'm not sure it matters who's journal ), or PM.

P.S. The official name will be: ADBB's KickAss TriAth

Juli - since according to my calculations, time/distance on the treadmill is about equal to time/distance on the elliptical, we can make an exception for Laurenfra, right??

But Laurenfra, you have to pretend you're on an elliptical machine--move your arms in a ridiculous cross-country-skiing-type motion and swear like a sailor the whole time.

UM this challange may not work for me then since that is how I will look the whole time I am on the treadmill. (Joke)

I look forward to this. I like the idea of a distamce challange.

erm... I guess if we do this again maybe we should make it more miles for the cycling? I dunno, I think I've only ever been on a bicycle twice so I have no idea how long 30 mi takes, or speed or anything like that. This is really sad. I think it's a way to get me to try a new thing though, so that's good.

Lyssie, 30 miles is going to be a lot easier on the bike than it is on the treadmill.

On average I think I can cover 10 miles in half an hour on the stationary bike.

You cannot do *one* piece of equipment the whole time and I don't think there is a substitute for bicycle.... I don't think this should be something easy, it should be something for us psychotic kind of exercising people. Part of me thinks that you should be able to substitute one thing with another but still keep it being 3 things, to keep the triathalon thing, but I don't want to be like, people can't participate if they're willing to do the same amount of work... I guess if you come up with a plan on what you'd like to substitute for what, we can do it as a case-by-case thing, but I don't think the triathalon should turn into not being that... Yanno?
