    Re: Triathalon

alas Lyssie my knees only walk no other aerobic exercise machine as the downsroke on the eliptical and the bike causes the thighbone to scrape the knee cap so i will have to sit this one out,

Lyssie--maybe we can let the people pick their 3 events, but have a set mileage for each.

        Bike--100 miles
        Treadmill--30 miles
        Elliptical--30 miles
        Swimming--10 miles (??)

Thats a really good idea, you should be able to recruit more that way.

When we get it all figured out, I'm in!

I like the idea of letting people pick their poison with set miles for different things. I've no clue what a triathlon is in reality, but maybe we can look one up and see how they are set up and do something that's similar?

Joy, In reality a triathlon is

                  Swim
                  Cylce
                  Run

Not sure of distances though. I think they vary.

                    Re: Triathalon

Oooh yes, so perhaps these are the options:

Treadmill (or could be split into simply "walking" and "running")
                    Bike
                    Elliptical
                    Rowing Machine
                    Swimming
                    Stairstepper
                    Roman Chair--requested by 2big (bwuaahahahahahahhha)

Figuring out a mileage for each, which does NOT reflect a real triatholon--obviously it should be much longer if it's taking 6 weeks...everyone gets to pick three "events"...Lyssie better get steppin' on dis...Joisey, where you at!?

I know and I use it 3 times a week in the abs challenge but I didn't request any changes to this challenge to accomadate my bad knees and was already told none would be made for those with medical conditons that prohibit them from using a those machines,

I can't keep up with all this change and can't post it in the treckie and pres challenge like I told Lyssie i would to reruit folk so I'll just post a new challeng check it out and a link here

I am psyched!!!! This will definately give me somethingn to work towards...My elliptical does not record milage, but since the treadmill is very near equivilant, I will have some "times" that I can use to gauge mileage from...
                              Highly motivated.
I did the treadmill 20mins today almost 1mi .20...next time I might be able to get 1.25 done in 20 mis...slowly building up new muscle groups...Oh 2big will be soooo proud!

                                Re: Triathalon

I didn't mean to start something that would make people feel excluded from participating. I'm not sure how to do a triathalon if someone only does one thing. I said the two for Laurenfra since the elliptical and treadmill are roughly the same thing... I'm not trying to hurt anybody's feelings or anything like that. I thought the purpose of this was to try and push people to do something that they wouldn't typically do or experience something that they wouldn't typically experience. I've been getting a little frustrated with the whole thing (hence the no posting) but not ignoring.

I think that you guys are right, where you can pick the 3 that you'd like to do. You can do the 2 things if you do one twice, but I really don't think it's fair to have a triathalon where you only do one thing. I'm sorry if this offends folks. If I had my perfect world, we would all have access to everything, but I do know that not everyone has access to everything... kinda like how this triathalon doesn't have the swimming which would have been pretty much overlooked by me since I don't have access to a pool. :P

Anyway, here's the rough draft of things to choose (please let me know if I'm missing anything or you have other mileage suggestions):

                                Elliptical - 30 miles
Treadmill (running/walking/limping/hopping/dancing all in this one) - 30 miles
                                Bicycle - 100 miles
                                Rowing
                                Stairclimber
                                Swimming - 10 miles

I think maybe flights would work better for the stairmaster, but it's been a while since I've been on it to calculate how long it takes for how many flights.. I'll go back to it on Monday and use those times... As for the rowing, I can ask BF, but I'm not sure he ever kept track or would be in the mood to test it out for me, so maybe others (hint hint Richt) can give input?

When people are signing up - I'd appreciate if they'd let me know which events they are participating in so I can work on my sneaky, devlish, behind the scenes idea that I have going on. I will post everything on Monday in a new Thread that's less confusing than all of this.

Thanks to everyone for all the input, ideas, and support on getting this going, I think it'll be a lot of fun once we can figure out what we're doing (instead of the most confusing challenge ever challenge - not that that's not fun... oh heck *remove foot from mouth*).
