  • ADBB's KICKASS TRIATH SIGN-UP

    Helllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooo folks.

So. The triathalon, there are three events out of the following list:

    Bicycle - 100 miles
    Treadmill - 30 miles
    Elliptical - 30 miles
    Swimming - 10 miles
    Rowing - 30 miles
    Stairclimber - 25 miles

So far I have the following folks down for this:

    Me - Treadmill, Elliptical, Bicycle
    Richt - Treadmill, Elliptical, Bicycle
    Jess - Treadmill, Elliptical, Bicycle
    Juli - Treadmill, Elliptical, Bicycle
    Joy - Treadmill, Elliptical, Bicycle
Laurenfra - Treadmill, Treadmill (aka pretend elliptical), Bicycle

If you want in, or want to change what you're doing, please let me know (write a post here). I will expect everyone to be checking in on what they're doing so I can keep tabs - I will unveil my evil plans 01 December 2006 (aka the starting date).

They must be done in sequence... so if you run on the first day for 5 miles, then go on the elliptical for another 2 miles, ONLY the running will count.

If you have any questions/concerns, let me know.

Lyssie, I wrote this in the other thread but thought I should write here too.

Is it ok for me to do 3 x 30 miles on the eliptical? If not totally understand!

      Hi Lyssie

Put me down for the treadmill, elliptical and the stairclimber! The only problem I have, is that my stair master machine only counts steps!!! Is there a formula anywhere to convert to miles?

thanks - I'm really looking forward to this!

        Lyssie for clarification -

Is it just the treadmill that counts for running? Or does outside running count also, if I record the mileage?

Also, the same goes for the bycycle, is it just the stationary bike or real bike aswell?

          Hello,

This is such a great idea! I just wanted to check, can anyone see why I shouldn't do this alongside the 6WEC?

If not I'd love to sign up for treadmill, elliptical, bicycle Yikes - it sounds a long way!

            Hihihi!! So.

Veronica, I'm writing you a PM about that.

Jane - I'll kick someone off the one at the gym and see if I can calculate the steps/mi that it says... and yes, I will double check it against online to see if it's anywhere hidden in the worldwideweb.

Richt - NO, only machines. Oh wait, yeah... It's just my way of stating things, so if you're doing the *real* thing, that's beautiful too... Plus you get better scenery than trying to imagine things are moving while you're in the same place.

Baarb - I'm doing it alongside the 6 WEC.

I don't understand the squence part.... does that apply to two activities done in the same day, or over the course of the challenge? Meaning I can't run every other day, but first have to do all the running, then all the ellip, then all the swimming, etc? If so, I probably can't do it -- I HAVE to get running on a regular basis and build up my running legs if I'm going to finish that half marathon! By the way, I think 30 miles on the treadmill is easier than 30 on the ellip -- not everyone is as good on that devil machine as you and Julie are! I vote for 5 miles on the elliptical.

                Re: ADBB's KICKASS TRIATH SIGN-UP

ROFL - see, I think the elliptical is easier... It's that you do 30 miles running/walking/wogging/whatever, then the elliptical 30, then the bike 100... The good part is that you *could* technically do 2 rounds of running... though they say that cross training is really great for muscles, even for people training for marathons.. so like, if you did run/elliptical/run instead of run/elliptical/bike, we'd still let you play with us... of course, we might tease you, but you could still play...

Ok, well, Juli the big meanie head would anyway.

Jane - the stairclimber I was on this afternoon says that 48 floors = 1 mile... I'm still trying to figure out how many steps are supposed to be in a floor though... *ponders* This is the one that actually has *stairs* you have to walk up though, not pedals. I will steal the other one tomorrow (promise) and check it out. Online says that 2000 steps = 1 mile...

So, at my lightening fast rate of 1 mile per day (because that's all I can stand), it would take me the whole month just to do my ellip milage.

Can't I just walk/run the whole thing? That would probably REALLY be cheating though, huh? And I'd have bruises and would never be able to eat lunch again. (I hope all the teachers in Julie's school are as nurturing as she is.)

Harumph. I read your post in the journals Adena. I see how it is. *gives nasty look* No walk/run the whole thing, that's ONE thing, you need at least 2... I'm tellin' ya, try a bike if the elliptical scares you.. it's great fun...
