    Re: Healthy Baby Bump Challenge

    Iyshia ,

I'm so loving your positive energy around here. I'm still trying to get back on the low carb wagon and move forward from there.

Any ideas on how to approach this head on and do it?

I know this WOL works, and it is healthy for me and our soon to come baby.

I know you got alot on your plate now with Trinity, but I need your support and help.

      Re: Healthy Baby Bump Challenge

Butterfly--Hello and welcome...sorry it took me so long to respond, but I was in the hospital having the baby! She's finally here, and I'm back on my mission to goal. It's really not as hard as it sounds to follow maintainence while pregnant w/ this WOE. Was this WOL something you were following before you got pregnant, or are you new to it all together? Also, what are your stats? I don't expect you to post your current weight, due to the situation....but how old are you, how tall, what was your highest weight, and what is your post-partum goal?
Thank you for popping in here, Iyshia! I expect you have plenty of other things to occupy your time than to sift through posts here, but I do appreciate the welcome.

Congratulations on your little bundle of love! She is beautiful

I am not new to low carbing, but have never applied what I have learned during a pregnancy. So I just eat whatever and pay the price later
Atkins has not been my program of choice in the past, but since this is the only place I have found true low carb support for healthy pregnancy, I figured I could give his plan a shot.
Unfortunately, until very recently, I had a dieters mentality regarding low carb-it was my safety net for after I had a baby and needed to drop the weight. Last summer (after nearly 8 years of lose-gain cycles), I finally made the connection that the new, good eating habits need to just be my way of eating whether I am slim, heavy, pregnant, whatever.

Although I always hate how much I gain while pregnant (35-40 pounds each time), I also just believed it was what happens. So far, I have never developed gestational diabetes or had my poor eating seem to affect my babies, but I would hate to think that I could be deliberately placing the little one in danger by not making wise food choices. Besides, I am really tired of having to work off an extra 15 or 20 pounds that I didn't need in the first place in order to have a healthy baby. So it is definitely time to act on the things I have learned!

Current weight 148 lb (I don't mind sharing as perhaps it will help me stay accountable)
      Prepregnancy 145 lb
      34yrs
      Height 5' 4"
      Highest Wt. 183 lb (pregnant)
      Due date May 7, 2008
PostPart. goal 140ish (don't want to obsess about the scale, though)

My main goal during this pregnancy is to stay away from refined sugar and starch and limit most grains and high glycemic foods since I seem to overeat those easily. I think if I can do that, I will have a much easier time with my secondary goal of exercising at least 3 times per week. Every other time, I was WAY tired because I ate a lot of junk in addition to a 'well balanced' diet and I am sure the sugar overload sapped my energy. Since I really dislike to sweat and get sore, I found it an easy excuse to use.

Right now, I am waiting out the nausea, which is severely limiting my selection of foods. Very little food=very little energy, too (sigh). On the upside, even though I keep thinking I should be eating 'easy on the stomach' starchy-sweet foods, my body is telling me 'no'. So, I have not had a huge problem overeating junk so far. On the other hand, most good protein foods and some veggies that I normally love are also not liking me

So that is the short version of where I am and what I am hoping to accomplish here.

I am kind of at a loss as to what I could be eating right now as my stomach seems to reject nearly half of the things I try to eat--and would be really appreciative of any ideas for favorite meals or snacks that others have found easy to cook/digest.

GB--Thanks girl, I just want everyone to know that its very possible to not get to carried away during pregnancy.

Butterfly-- sounds great! I had my bundle Oct. 11th--hence my absence from the boards. I look forward to seeing you around, and following the news of your losses.

Well, I didn't make it here yesterday, so I'm posting my stats today. When I went in to have the baby I weighed 217lbs. I left the hospital weighing 210lbs, and I'm now down to 195! Ive lost 22lbs in 12 days! I started back with induction as soon as I got out of the hospital. (Oct. 13th) I've decided to do push ups and work my arms out with 3 and 5lb dumbbells until my doctor says it's ok for me to start walking again. I really can't believe how fast the weight has come off, but I hope it continues to drop away with no stalling.

I will be here once a week to post my post-pregnancy progress, and pics.

Thanks Liz! I'm soooo glad to be completely back. I'm about to find a workout on demand that's not too hard, but just hard enough to make me feel worked out!
