Ok...so I am heading out to my brothers place this afternoon to help him do some reno's on his new house. He now lives in a very small town about 2.5 hours from me.
I promise to do my C25K run tomorrow. I will have to do it outside. I am taking my sports watch and my ipod where I downloaded the podcast of Week 2 of Cool Running. I will follow that for tomorrow. I have always done it on my treadmill before this but he doesn't have a treadmill.
Anyway, just thought I would report that in. I will probably put off doing my 3rd workout of the week until Saturday when I get home.
So........Liz (hopejoy).......I promised I would do it when I was away and I will!
Good luck everyone this week. I will be on the board at times still as he has a laptop. So, I'll be checkin up on everyone...hehehe.
I just did Rung 2 Day 2 this morning. The first jog was hard! After that it wasn't as bad and I ended up doing an extra jog during my 5 cool down walk. My shoes felt great. No discomfort at all, and my knees feel better. Also I wanted to add I've had problems with my knees before I started couch to 5 K. I have osteoarthritis and have had it since I was about 18. I'm hoping that running and losing weight will help them.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Elizellen...I know you're in the UK, and I'm wondering what #7 on the treadmill means for you. On my treadmill, #7 is equal to 7 miles per hour. Is yours in kilometers per hour or miles per hour?

It's not what you do today that makes a difference... It's what you do everyday that makes the difference.

To be honest, I havent a clue - it is just numbers to me LOL!! I think it does also indicate somewhere on the display how many minutes it takes to cover either a mile (or a kilometer) but I will check on Wednesday with one of the instructors.

Hi everyone... did my second workout... it was great! Feels good especially when it's over. lol.
I am just doing 2 miles to start with and alternating 60 seconds running with 90 seconds of walking... (after my warmup) til the two miles are done. Lots of hills... when I get to the end of my driveway, there's a hill either way, so have to start out running uphill! Hurumph!
Definately gets my lungs going right away but then it get's easier after that... especially as the ending is downhill.... nice. Anyways... just glad I started it. I have this crazy idea that it will be so much more effective in less time. lol! Which is really appealing.

Good Morning Ladies! I'm so encouraged everytime I come here and read how well everyone is doing! High fives to you all!!!!!!!!! Today is my second run and I am going into it very hesitantly. I spent all day yesterday out on the couch with a killer migraine, ended up taking meds that had me out like a trout all night long. I woke up this morning feeling much better so I am heading out. Just hoping running doesn't trigger another migraine to set in. I'm just afraid not to do it too because I am such a scheduled girl that if I break the pattern it is to easy to slack off ......... make sense????? Another motivating factor is that I weighed today 201.5 so close to breaking into Onederland as I loved hearing it called that I just don't want to stop now!!!!!!OK I'm rambling ...........
Anyways Thank-you all for being such wonderful mentors and motivators and partners in ths whole thing. To someone so new to it all it's an amazing blessing!
OK back from my run this morning .......... I did it .......... it was hard, harder then Monday for me but I did it! I can't see myself moving on to the next level as soon as next week but we'll see. Now onto groceries, kids, housework, laundry ect......... you get the picture huh?????
Yah, I don't think that we should push ourselves to do the next rung - it'll happen when we're ready. Now, you may find next week that it's definately doable - a lot of people have been suprised that way. Or, you may decide to stay on this current rung and just strengthen yourself by consistency.
I don't think i'm on any particular rung right now. Today I ran for 1/2 mile, then walked 1/4, then ran 1/4, then walked another 1/4 (or slightly less) and ran 1/4 (or slightly more).
When I started the run, I didn't feel particularly strong or capable of doing more than my usual 1/2 mile followed by 1/4 mile, but when I got to the end of the 1/2 mile, I decided to walk farther down the bike path instead of turning around. After about 1/4 mile, I decided to try running back to the 1/2 mile mark, and it was easy, so I finished out with another walk and then run.
I'm giving myself kisses for this - but more importantly, so is my dh!!!!!

Great job Evermind! And hrgillespie - I am on the first rung... still. I am thinking I will have to do it one last time next week. It is a goal for me to complete the week as it is exactly laid out in teh C25K plan so that I can reward myself with some new shoes. The point is you will move on when you are ready and every run whether it is just a repeat of the prior one or one of your own device is a step toward your goals!
Thanks Evermind and 2BME it so helps to hear someone say it's normal to not feel ready to move on. I set very high expecatations for myself and I think I end up way disappointed when I don't accomplish them. It doesn't help that Hubby isn't particulaly supportive. Or that I have winter weather setting in and making me nervous about being able to finish at all .........I am sure glad I have you here to keep me going!
Evermind how long did it take you to be able to run a whole 1/2 a mile? How do you track how far you go?
2BME way to go on deciding to go up to the next rung. How long did you stay on the first before now feeling ready to move on?
I know I ask a lot of questions ..... just feeling like a sponge needing to absorb all the info I can!!!!!!!
Heidi, I think (and I am no expert by any means) that you should do what you are comfortable with. This isn't a race. There isn't a pop quiz that you have to cram for. This is all about YOU and how you are conditioning your body. Trust me, your body is going to acclimate itself to the running, and you will be going further and faster than you ever imagined. Good luck to you! I wish you the best. We will give you all the support you need.
