        I would love to join ......... I think I can do all but the running one my results should definitly show improvement as I am starting off with limits as far as my toe goes ( stepping funny and not full support from that foot while squatting) but the sit-ups and pushups should be good and accurate. So here's what I am commiting to and I will try and get my tests done this morning and post back.

        The Pushup Test


        I'm excited to get back on track excercise wise and I love that this compliments challenges I allready enjoy! Thanks for getting it started.

            OK I did my test runs and here are my results. I knew the push-ups would be bad I have terrible upper body strength and I was happy with the squats even though it says below average because while I was doing the squat challenge this month the most I did at one time was 15 so 18 was a good feeling.

            The Step Test - 96 (Good)
            The Squat Test - 18 (below Average)
            The Situp Test - 35 (excellent)
            The Pushup Test - 7 (below average)


            Now can you give me an idea of what you are doing to improve these through the month? Are you just doing your normal workouts and looking for a general overall improvements or will you do these challenges regularly and look for improvement along the way? I'm guessing your answer is going to be that it's individual but I'm just curious as to how others will approach it.

              Hey well done - a great start, particularly the sit ups.

              Yes, how people work to improve their results is up to them. The basic idea is to look at your fitness programme and see if there any extra ways you could push yourself (in small increments) in various ways. If you are doing a range of tests a balance between cardio vascular and resistance workouts would be important too

              My plan:
              I am in the pushup, squats and situps challenge anyway so will continue with them, probably upping my daily goals for those.

              I do bodypump (weight lifting class) so I expect that to help with squats, situps and pushups also. I'll try and get to 3 instead of 2 classes per week.

              For endurance (running and step tests) I'll continue to do biking and running. I'll work in more speed workouts to my running, however, because speed is not my strong point!

              I'll also continue with bodycombat (aerobics type thing) workouts which are good for leaping about type stamina which should be good for the step test. I'm aiming to make 2 classes instead of one.

                    Alexa I had alot of the same ideas you did. I am already in squat and crunch challanges so I thought I would just up the goals for thoese next month. I also thought I would enter the pushup challange. I just start working on my step 10 minutes per day to increase my endurance (boy is that alot harder then I thought it would be) I am also pushing my speeds faster on my treadmill. I set goals for each of the tests so I have something to strive for and judge my progress by.

                        Glad you got this running, Alexa! I'm having a hard time getting re-motivated to exercise after my eye episode. I think this will help me to get re-started again. I'll think about what tests to do or decide if I have a different one and will post back.

                        Now I just have to decide what I want to improve in most. Hmmm. I'll be back!

                            Good morning, Alexa! What a great challenge. I was hesitant at first in joining because there's just too many excuses, reasons...school, classes, family, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Parties, New Years, etc seem to come to mind. Of which also make me want to work harder. I've got a lot to do as it is with school and stuff, but walking/running is my thing and I want to improve on it more...and it's one thing to keep straight.

                            So, I'm in, and I'll be doing the running/walking thing. I'll report back my begining stats by this weekend.

                              This challenge shoudln't take up too much extra time, but be a sort of background incentive.

                              Good luck with the test My least favourite....but worth doing!

                                OMG I am having such a hard time doing that step for 10 minutes. It's pushing my heart rate up to about 90% of max and by the time the 10 minues is over I'm drenched is sweat and need a nap lol. I know it will get easier after awhile but boy is this kicking my butt. I also had a program recored from tv that uses 18 inch high steps for a 30 minute leg and glute workout I am starting with that also I made it through the first exercies don't laugh its alot harder then it sounds lol. I am definetly going to feel this tommorow. I think next month I'll stay out of the squat challange this program has alot of squat exercises built into it and just enter the crinch adn pushup challanges and stay in the presidental fitness and shrinking into christmas challange.
