I know the important thing is the long term fitness goals thats why I wanted to enter this challange it keeps me focused on the long term goal. One of the main reasons I am pushing my exercise harder right now is my husband and I have a little friendly competation going. We both took before pictures 3 weeks ago and we set of goal of 12/15 to see who can make the most improvement. Were going to judge who wins by improvement in physical condition not by weight. Both us wanted to get professional pictures taken this year its been forever since we had a couples picture done so it was a good motivator to try to look our best by then. Winner gets a nice evening of pampering provided by the loser Have to love a little friendly competation.
    you're doing fine, angel.
yes, it is an accumulation of points.
i've been a member of the challenge since June 14, 2005
rich has been a member since January 04, 2005
Katlam has been a member since January 31, 2005
you can see by looking at our totals, there is a big difference in the points. katlam and rich, even though they joined in the same month, rich has accumulated many more points.

yup Rich has more points 'cause I stopped logging for a long time, and had even stopped really exercising, but I'm back on now and sticking to it....now if I could just get my water under control....

Jimmy I updated my log a little bit it won't look like much but I am doing my crunches and a few squats each day so I am logging it as 5 min of stretching for a whopping 12 points a day! LOL Hopefully soon I can start getting back to the good stuff!

            Congrats on your award, meena!

Angel, Jimmie is right on the money and she tells you that many of us have been logging on for years. I don't recall when I started, but it was certainly awhile ago. As I got used to exercising, I increased my time as well as the different types of exercises in my routine. For example, the website gives you lots of points for doing aerobic exercises compared to something like weight lifting. Even though I find weight lifting a challenging exercise, I don't receive close to the amount of points I would have received had I don't biking, running, cardio machine for the same amount of time. Hope that helps! And don't give up either!

liz, i often see names diappear one week and then have an exercise freenzy the next.

i think poor air quality, ashes falling everywhere, half of california burning is a quite a excuse.
we used to live out in CA, santa ana specifically, and i know those winds, i know the fires, i know the ash.

Hey Angel, One feature of the presidents challenge website you might want to check out is the "compare" feature. You can select a set of dates and compare your exercise to your group, other people your age, people in your city, people in your state, etc. That tells you how you compare only within that specific set of dates.

Say, I know we know this happens but do we know why? The points Jimmie listed for me are more then the points I see when I look at my stats. I show me as being 80% towards bronze medal at 16,201 point while Jimmie shows me in the 17,000 range. Seems odd.

the difference in the numbers is because when you guys log your exercise, you can only get 750 points per day. anything over that is not credited to you but i see them in my totals.

i've addressed it with site admins but to no avail. i've learned to live with it.

this is why it's hard for me to know who is earning something because i see more points. i can know you are getting close but that's about it.

comparing your points/exercise to others: what grant is saying is true. you can do all kinds of camparisons and this is the reason i culled the group. you would be comparing yourself to member who haven't logged anything for over a year. by culling the group, you would get a more accurate number on where you stand, jog, bike, etc. with others.

I am so happy I finally make it 1/2 to my bronze. I set a goal for making the 20000 points by 12/15 because when I caculated out the points that would be how long it would take me if I exercised 45 minutes a day 6 days a week which is what I strive for. Having a set date to reach a goal realy helps keep me motivated not to skip workouts on days I just dont want to exercise.
