  • March Hula Hoop and Jump Rope Challenge

    Need to be insanely fit? Try skipping! Seriously, it has a very effective cardiovascular impact and can be fun too.

    Hula is great to do in front of the TV and can be toning.

    If you fancy trying either of these consider joining this challenge for some less traditional, and very fun, exercise.

    In this challenge you can do hula-hooping and/or jumping rope. Your goal is set by you - just state the number of minutes you wish to do in both activities (or only one) in the list.

    Please note you don't have to do both if you don't want to!

    NB skipping can be tough on the knees, especially if you still have a lot of weight to lose, so please be careful to wear good quality trainers to mimise impact, try a softer surface and stop if it hurts!

    NB Hula hooping can be tough on your dignity. Please only attempt it with a silly grin on your face.

    How to sign up:
    1) Copy and paste your name onto the list in the post below this one
    2) State your MONTHLY jump rope minutes goal like this JR 5/20 IF DOING
    4) State your MONTHLY hula-hooping minutes goal as HH 5/20 IF DOING
    3) Report as often as you like by updating the ENTIRE list

    I'm in of course and determined to meet goal this month. I'm going for more emphasis on the skipping, but cutting down overall due to work and trips...

              Okay, I was so lazy today that I debated whether I should add what I did here or just drop it and add when I do more. Decided to add, so 3 min skipping (it was warm up for running).

                Lol! I can beat that - I did 2 minutes yesterday in class. We are subject to the whim of the instructor. Did 12 on Sat.

                  I *debated* doing hula hooping yesterday... does that count?? My calves hurt from doing "hops" for the Fitness Trainer so I am scared of jump rope.

                    Debating is a form of intellectual exercise, so I'm pretty sure it matters.
