      Thanks for the encouragment. I may have to up the mileage now that the weather is getting better. After tomorrow I will have a 150 miles in. I feel like I am cheating because I ride to work so even when I don't feel like riding I have to.

          It's not cheating, it is still work. Great idea though. If I did it I could get 120 miles in per day! Of course it would only take me 5 hours to get there and 5 hours back. Who has time to sleep anyways? LOL

          OK, I'll just stick to the exercise bike. Did another 15 this am.

          Now for the big confession. Ever since our Paris trip this winter and especially after our cruise, even though I had been diligent in my exercise, I had fallen off the Atkins wagon and my weight skyrocketed. Don't want to admit how bad, but lets suffice it to say, it wasn't pretty. I went back to induction on May 1st and have already lost 13 lbs. Working my way back to goal. Why do I do this to myself. I guess it just reinforces that I really do have an addiction that needs critical attention and not something to be taken casually.

            I know what you mean about going off and gaining lots of weight. Even though I ride as much as I do I still don't lose weight while I am off the diet. Last year I rode in a century ride that took me 5 hours. I wore my heart rate moniter on that ride and according to my hrm I burned 8,000 calories on that ride. I ate a few power bars and drank only water. When I got home I had gained 2 pounds on the ride.

            I have a unique situation that enables me to bike commute. I live just on the edge of the distance being practical 15 miles one way. I can park my bike in my office and most of the time the weather here is great. oh and I have a locker room with showers to use for free.

            you can mark me down for another 30 miles and a perfect 5 days in a row commute.
