  • Cool Running for the week of May 22, 2005

HELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME TO A NEW WEEK OF COOL RUNNING!!

I decided to take today off (Sunday) and start fresh tomorrow with the running/walkers/joggers club at work. I'll do my 8 miles tomorrow, bank on that!!

I'm still so psyched and happy about doing so well in the 5k ... !! Not a bit sore this morning either! Gotta love that! And I surely love my new New Balance 1221s ...truly a treat for the feet!!!

Set your goals high for this week and exceed them!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!
Remember: if you don't move, neither will the scale!!

I only did 10 miles of cycling with the bf and his son. I also did 25 ab crunches to loosen up alittle. I can feel the 100 I did yesterday, but it's not bad at all.

I'm looking forward to getting out there tomorrow! :joy

Just wanted to check-in after a week away. We (13yo son and me) drove for 14hrs straight yesterday from IL to DE to return home. WHEW!!! I'm plannning on walking later today.

U of IL campus is beautiful, and so spacious---maybe as much as a 5 mile square campus, and we walked from one end to the other every day. It was difficult at times to eat only low-carb items, such as skipping the hotel contintental breakfast that our team was enjoying and heading for a restaurant where there was protein and veges (ummm---western omlet type fair), but the scale number reflected this too ':nod' since I didn't gain while away. That to me is a FEAT---maintaining while eating out for a week.

If your dc every have a chance to participate in Science Olympiad competition---DO IT. The National competition was a GREAT experience for my son. http://www.soinc.org/

*yawn* Good morning all you cool runners and walkers and bikers and other exercise addicts. I confess to no walking this weekend. We just had so much yard work to do. I raked rocks for much of Saturday and sunday as well as tilled dirt with one of those garden claw things. I feel it but I am bummed the walking didn't happen. I even tried to talk DH into it but no luck. I will be walking this afternoon though. 6 miles if it kills me. i would like to go further but we will see.

I just got back from my cottage for the long weekend (Victoria Day in Canada today). The weather was miserable, very cold and rainy. Sundays are my rest day. Today was lower body weights for me (Body for Life) and I also did half an hour on the stability ball.

              Great job everyone!

Well, I have to tell you, it was a horrible struggle for me to run 4 miles today, but I did it.

I fell off a bar stool at home last night trying to take a picture ... long story short, I was semi-unconscious for over an hour before DH found me laying on the kitchen tile floor, bleeding from my mouth (I bit my lip when I fell, my glasses went flying, and I landed smack dab on my bony butt which is killing me today. My lip is swollen and has a scab on it (don't even *think* about kissing me today!!) and my left eye is bruised. Weird stuff .. the lower right side of my body hurts, but the upper left side of my body hurts too!! What the h*ll did I do?? I want you to know that tile floors on a concrete slab house DO NOT FLEX when 94 pounds hits them ... I am thankful nothing was broken, but I had one heckuva headache last night... DH wanted to take me to the hospital, but I refused ... Anyway, he said the first thing out of my mouth when he got me conscious was "I WILL RUN TOMORROW" ... now, how insane am I, I ask you?? :yikes

So, I did the 4 mile route with the running club at work. I made it, but it zapped me. I am hoping for another 4 miles later on tonight when it cools down a little. Those 90+ heat indexes are a bit much ...

              I'll check in again later!

                  BETTYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!

                  Look after yourself!!!!!!!!!!!

You're supposed to go and get yourself checked out by a doctor if you've been knocked nearly unconscious, not go running!!!

Enough lectures - I did something similar myself once and lost most of my memory for a while. Glad to see you're ok though.

BUT - how on earth did you fall off the stool? And was the photo worth it? Enquiring minds want to know...

Esther, you're funny!! Yes, the pix turned out great! Heck, I didn't even drop the camera!! Figure that out! ensive

I felt kinda like I was in a brain fog today, but not sure if it was because of the fall or because it was Monday!!

I *think* I fell cuz I misjudged the distance from the seat of the stool to the floor or something equally stupid ... Who knows ... do blondes ever successfully explain their stupidity?? :guns

Thanks for all your concern guys!! I just ran another 4.1 miles, so I know I'm okay. Just a bit sore on my butt, but hey, that's not all bad, cuz I don't sit for long! :joy

                    Love ya all!!

:sympathy Sorry to hear about your accident, Betty. It doesn't seem to have slowed you down any. Be careful from now on! We can't have our running inspiration hurting herself. Who would start these threads and push us onward?

                        Venting - please ignore...

3 days left till my first 5k.
5 days left till my first 10k
2 or 3 weeks left till we emigrate.
My living room is full of the new tenants' furniture as we have to rent out the house because my partner's daughter won't agree to sell the house but told us we could rent it out instead (wants to inherit the whole lot, not just half...).
And now she's refusing to sign to the tenancy agreement. Aaaaaaargggggghh! My partner is blowing his top and threatening to put a severance on the house and force her to sell. Someone has to tell the new (prospective) tenants that everything is about to fall through and their furniture might have to be moved out - and I'd just made really good friends with them and promised them I'd do whatever I could to make everything work out right.

She says 'Think of your three grandchildren!'
He's thinking of his retirement, and whether to make sure his six other grandchildren get a share too.

Sorry - really needed to rant.

I *definately* need to go for a run as soon as possible to clear my head...

Betty, I'm glad to hear that nothing seriously was broken but I'm with the others that you should go and get yourself checked out.

Completed my 4.44 mile run in 50 minutes this morning in a light rain. Actually it wasn't raining when I started but came down quite strong midway through the run. First run in a week and it really felt good. I included several fast running sections, as I'm trying to increase my running speed.

Sorry about the previous rant guys...

The run really did clear my head a bit - 6 miles run/walk in 1hr 45mins! I think I must have run about 3 miles of it, which is the most I've ever run in one day so I'm super pleased with myself :nod That's going to be the last training run - rest day tomorrow, uncle sitting Thursday, 5k on Friday evening, rest Saturday, 10k Sunday.
