  • Exercise and Eating

I've been searching around the net folks and can't seem to find a uniform way of going about eating. How long should you wait to eat something after working out? Or should you eat at all?

I've heard within an hour of working out and then I heard you shouldn't eat for two hours....

What do ya think? Or rather....what do ya know?? ensive

eating and exercise sepend on what your normal diet is and what you are looking to accomplish. That fat burning only after exercise mentality assumes the person id esating a high carb or high protein plan and not an Atkins plan which is fat burning 24 hours a day.

weight loss folk want fat burning so they are advised not to eat after working out nor to eat for 2 hours before working out as the body is burning fats for fuel at that point for regular exercise folk.

If you are at your goal weight then the point is mute and if you are hungry after a workout eat. If you are an Atkins eater you will be burning fats for fuel anyways.

If you are attempting to bulk up you have heard you need protein to build your tissues but again this is based on a high carb plan. Atkins 30%protein is 300 percent of the recommended USDA high carb eating protein intake so you are doing a high protein plan too on Atkins just not as high as the fats amount.

My standard rule of thumb is 2 hours ... high protein/high fat meal, 2 hours, then exercise. Seems to work well for me. Just be sure you are well hydrated before beginning a rigorous workout.

You don't want to be 'uniform' - you want to do what works for you, so experiment a bit.

So long as I'm in ketosis, I just eat what I feel like, when I feel like it, letting my body tell me what's best. If I'm not in ketosis my body just tells me to eat all the time, so I can't rely on it then. Other than that, I don't eat just before going out for a run, or at the most just a handful of peanuts or somesuch.

        Experiment!
