  • Flabby Arms, Big Thighs, Bottom Stomach Trouble

    Morning All,

I need some ideas to help with my three areas that don't seem to move much. Currently, I try to walk everyday at work for 1-2 miles - depends on if I have the time. In the evenings, I walk every other day for 3 miles. I do crunches and the exercise where you stand up and lift your leg up, back, to the side, etc.

Do you know anything I can add to see some results. I bet if I toned up all this flabby skin and extra meat I would be 20 lbs. lighter. :nod Thanks.

Have you tried Tae Bo? It is very effective at tightening up everything. It is also an amazing cardio work out. The tapes are designed so that you can ease into the program without taking it all on at once and getting discouraged. I have been doing the 1hr advanced tape for about 2 months and the shape of my body has changed dramatically. :icondance I have just begun to add running, but you already have that licked!! (with your walks at work and home) I just realized when I started running how important it is to chage up your routine, as no one type of exercise works all of your muscles in all of their different ways. Keep up the great work!!! Let us know what you choose and how it goes. :yes

I agree that tae bo will reshape your body dramatically. I have done it for 7 months and have lost 5 inches in each arm and 7 inches in each leg. My butt is a lot smaller and he does a great thing with waist exercises. I am on the bootcamp rotation now and I lost 3 inches in 2 workouts (legs) and 3 inches in 2 workouts in my waist!!!

Oh yea. Those bands really kicked my butt. You have never felt tae bo like this. When you do the speed bag with them I couldn't do more than 1 eight count. I worked out for 6 months with tae bo and then got bootcamp. It was like I never worked out in my life before. It REALLY works!!!

Weights for the arms ... focusing on triceps and biceps. Start with a light weight and when you can do more than 12 repetitions to muscle exhaustion, use a heavier weight.

Use an exercise ball. Kathy Smith's exercise ball video is a great start.

Lots of good cardio. And not just now and then, but REGULARLY. Like daily! A minimum of 30 minutes of heart-raising activity will go a long ways!!

                A question about TaeBo...

How much coordination do you have to have to do this? I would like to get some tapes and give it a try but I have no coordination...would I be able to get it down or just kill myself :icondance

Hi Shay!!! I am so glad to see you in this forum!!!!! You can start with the "old school" tapes which are very cheap. They come in a set of three, instructional, basic, and advanced. He shows you step by step what to do. He also gives you alternative moves if you can't quite do it the "correct" way yet. I have been doing theses for almost 3 months and there are still some parts that I feel a little silly or "uncoordinated" at, but I do the best I can and move on. Start with like two work outs a week for as many weeks as it takes for you to get comfortable then add a day per week in the same manner, and you will be doing 5 days a week before you know it!!! :icondance

The problem is, that there is no spot reduction. You can't do one exercise to burn fat in one area. But what you can do is work the Biggest muscles all at once, thereby turning up the furnace to burn fat all over your body.

The legs, and back are the biggest muscles. Thats why running is so effective. Tae bo is so effective because it is using pretty much all of your body's muscles at once, turning up the heat and leaving you in a state at which you are burning calories like a mad man( or woman).
