Holy crap, you guys soo inspire me. I did my 2 mile run/walk last night (11 minutes walking 18 running) then after my stretching I did about half an hour of core strength stuff on my ball (abs, lower back). Today I've done my hour lower body weight training and I'm off for a quick 10k cycle.

WOW Isabeau that's awesome yuou inspire me as well what a whole lot you have done.
I myself managed to Jog for 32 minutes I'm not sure how far I went all I know is my energy sucks and this run was really hard all I wanted to do was quite after 15 minutes but, I didn't and that is how determined I am to get to goal. I am willing to push that little bit extra to get what I want. I burned up 600 calories and walked 15 minutes as well.sigpic

Just did my five mile. Not my best time, had some cramping for the first three miles in my right calf and some tenderness in the right shin. SO I was a little slower. But I was so mad about my cheat last night that I added some interval running. Running faster every other telephone pole. I did that for about the first 2 miles. But I might have been jogging too slow on the in between telephone poles. Not to mention that I may have spent too much energy running hard early. But I had plenty on the home stretch so I don't know, maybe it was just the cramping.
Anyway, 5 miles 50:54(24:55 split)Jim

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?

Congrats jroche! I'm glad to see you're back on track after last night. You had mentioned that sometimes you're tempting to just say, "oh well, I'll get back on track on Monday", but here you are, Saturday morning with a 5 mile run done already! I wouldn't worry about the overall time. In my opinion, if you're doing intervals, the overall time isn't what's important.
My goal for this week was to run 1 mile, and I did it! I didn't measure the distance, but I did 30 minutes of running/walking (mostly running though!) and I even threw a few bursts of fast running in. It was a perfect day. I went to this park down the street that has a sort of figure 8 loop. I don't know the distance, but it took me 9-10 minutes to do one loop at a slow jog, and I did 3 loops. I had my MP3 player on, and I was smiling as I was running. It was just a perfect combination of energy, music, sunshine, light breeze, and distractions (kids playing on the playground, a little toddler playing in the water fountain park). I LOVED IT!

I just finished a half-marathon test run!! YEP!! This old (nearly 50) lady just ran 13.1 miles in 3 hours 9 minutes ... stopping only to wipe sweat off periodically and take in 3 bottles of water along the way!!
Oh man, it was a terrific run .... cloudy, cool (albeit humid, but this *is* Florida after all...) My girlfriend and I had a blast .... We burned 1108 calories, 20% fat!! :yikes
This is so exciting ... now I *know* I can do the Disney Half Marathon in January!!! WOOHOO!!
The best part is, I'm not the least bit sore!! New Balance 1221s ROCK, baby!!!
:joy
HAPPY RUNNING EVERYONE! ITS TRULY AMAZING WHAT YOUR BODY IS CAPABLE OF IF YOU NEVER GIVE UP AND NEVER GIVE IN!!

Thanks, Effie!! I have been slowly building my Saturday runs up to 12 miles for several months, so today was the day to add another 1.1 miles to it and it feels great!Originally posted by EffieCongrats Betty! You're doing a half marathon in January and you've already completed the half marathon distance in June??? Talk about being prepared!!!!! Now that you know you can do the distance, do you have a time goal that you're shooting for?
When I registered for the DW Half, they ask you to predict your finish time. I didn't really know cuz the longest I've ever raced have been 10ks, which I can do in just over an hour. So I put down 3.5 hours just as a wild guess. Since I did it today in 3 hours 9 minutes, I would HOPE that by January when its COOL here in west central Florida, that I can finish under 3 hours. That would make me extremely happy!!!
Gosh, I'm getting so psyched!!
