  • my first month at curves

Hi everyone, well I just completed my first month at curves so I had my measurements taken. I was only able to go 7 times last month but I did manage to lose 1 and 1/2 inches, however my weight stayed the same.

What really has me perplexed is my body fat percentage actually went up. I wonder just how accurate is that thingy they do the body fat % on, or is it possible that it really went up??
    I dunno...tell me your thoughts...anyone?

First of all, great job sticking with it and losing those inches! That's what matters most!! The scale is NOT an accurate measurement of your progress because muscle weighs more than fat!

As for your body fat percentage, it all depends on your hydration level .. and its EXTREMELY inaccurate. Unless you do the underwater tank thing, take your body fat percentages with a grain of salt because they are notoriously unreliable.

What matters is you're gaining muscle and losing inches! HOW GREAT FOR YOU!!

    KEEP IT UP!

I totally agree with Betty on the body fat percentages, especially if it's a scale type device. Congratulations on the inches lost. That's fantastic.

        Hey!

The bit about "hydration", Yup :yes , the water content of your cells fluctuates all day long, going up and down depending on environment temperature, last meal, last fluid intake, etc. and God Forbid You Are Retaining a Bit of Fluid pre Tom or due to any other type of hormonal fluctuation. You could be up or down 5 pounds on the scale and a pile of millimetres on the callipers! :yikes

Bottom line, enjoy your accomplishment and ignor the rest .....cause scales flat out lie and callipers tell all sorts of porkeys!

go by how you feel! AND...... the tape measure! The body fat machine at Curves can be ruled by many things..... and yep hydration is one of them. Use it as an "average" over the months.
People do not see your weight nor your BF percentage, but they do see those inches!!!!!
