Cool Running for the week of June 5, 2005

Good Sunday morning to all!! :wave

Off day for me today after yesterday's trial half ... I feel good, not sore at all, so that's encouraging! Yesterday I wondered if I'd be able to walk today, but no problemo!! YAY!

Tomorrow, its back to work :anger but the good news is, its our Running Club day!! :joy So we'll out head out around 11:30 and try to get in at least 4 or 5 miles. Its amazing how much better the afternoons go once you get outside and raise that heart rate!!

Hope you all have a terrific Sunday and a fabulous week of cardio!!

I had so much fun on my first run yesterday, that I decided to do it again today! I did 3 loops around the park again, still don't know the distance, but it took 33:15. I did more walking today than I did yesterday, but the distance was still the same.

It is addictive, isn't it???? :nod

Just don't overdo ... give those muscles a chance to recover and then go girlie!! A rest day every other day is a very good plan and will keep you from hurting yourself!!

      YOU'RE ROCKIN'!!!

I'm fighting TOM at the moment so a nice long walk for me today, but I did manage to include a very long, steep hill!

Keep up the good work, everyone :wave

I was in the pool this morning and swam 500m then came home for a nice 5k walk with the dogs.

5 miles this morning. Second best time 47:24 it was :43 off my best pace but I felt good the whole way.

I couldn't really expect to keep dropping time like I was, could I? But it was fun while it lasted. I think my time improvements will be much more gradual from here on out.

Met with personal trainer yesterday and learned all about the machines and proper form. Today I will be going for 10k run/walk and then tomorrow will be hitting the gym to get some strength training in.

Rest day for me today which my muscles really needed after yesterday.

I posted yesterday on last week's thread that I ran 4.8 miles. Well, that was just the start of my exercise for the day! DS and I went kayaking, flat water kayaking, for 3 full hours. Then in the evening I took DH out for a walk around the neighborhood, or another 2 miles. WHEW!! Was I ever beat last night.

You guys are doing FANTASTIC!! WOW, I never cease to be inspired by this thread!! WTG EVERYONE!! Carole, what a workout!! Made me tired just reading it!!

Moochie, you continue to amaze me with your progress!! Sarah, you ROCK, girlfriend!! Jim, you are amazing!!! Diana, you are doing GREAT!!

I just finished my 8 miles for Monday. Wanted to run at lunchtime, but the warden (i.e. boss) kept me working through lunch ... then I realized I forgot to pack my running socks ... :anger so I just worked all the way through, went to dinner and then came home and ran the 8 miles. Through a little rain shower which felt good, then it cleared up and got REALLY STEAMY (Florida style) so right now, I am dripping sweat on the keyboard and running the ceiling fan on HIGH ...

                            Feel great, but TIRED!!

My DS, 13yo, went out with me this morning but he couldn't go at my slow pace. He ran 2 miles. Now to keep him at it. He's built like me, very muscular, is 5'8" and weighs around 160#, and is very concerned about getting "fat" like the rest of the extended family. He's a great swimmer but financially we can't afford to have him on a swim team. So, he's trying running for his daily exercise. Any tips on keeping him motivated are welcome.
