  • WORKING OUT 7 DAYS A WEEK?

I've heard that its not a good idea to exercise 7 days a week, is this just a rumour/myth or is there a real reason, i've heard about letting your muscles rest but could someone explain why this is so to me as i'm having a hard time grasping why?

I'm planning on starting to exercise to tae bo and run daily and was wondering about the 7 day theory (as i call it) before i start.

    Guy.

Muscles do need time to rest and repair and if you're doing weight training that's how they actually build. I exercise 7 days a week, however I alternate my weight training and my cardio. So, I don't weight train every day, but every other and I also alternate the muscle groups. Like Monday upper body, Wednesday lower and Friday upper again and I take a rest day for weight training. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays I run. I double up three days a week because I need to swim at least twice a week and cycle twice a week. Sundays are my 'rest' days, but that's when I'll do some flexibility/yoga stuff. I don't run two days in a row, or cycle two days in a row or swim two days in a row.

REST DAYS ARE ESSENTIAL ... or you risk injury.

I totally agree with Isabeau! :nod

          Overtraining!

Its caused by not allowing your muscles to play catch up. Sundays are my rest days from everything.

I do a 3/3 split aswell. Mon,wed, frid are weights, except I do things a little bit differently. and tues, thurs, sat are my cardio days. Tues and thurs are my running days and saturday is "hercules" hills day.
