  • Race results are in

    Well the results are in.

What a great time, I had so much fun. It was blistering hot and humid. There were water stations which I did use, just a sip then dump over the neck, and people were out with hoses spraying water to run through.

I finished with a time of 48:05, I passed about 20 runners on the home kick and snuck ahead of two right at the line. I finished 274th overall in a field of over 600 runners, I'm not sure exactly how many. And I finished 101st in the 18-39 open (male) division.

So I wanted to finish under 50 minutes (I did) and I wanted to finish in the top two thirds (I finished in the top half). So I'm prettty stoked right now.

Now I gotta find some more races to run.
    Jim

OK, I got a bit more info. There were over 600 runners registered just 412 finished (and I'm sure some didn't even run). So I placed in the top two thirds not top half. But that's OK because that was my goal.

There were 128 Men in the 18-39 division and I finished ahead of 27 of them. I definitely have room for improvement, but I'm very happy with my first ever results.

Thanks for all the motivation and encouragement everyone. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for this place.

Actually the pace according to the results page was 9:41, but what's a second among friends.

My first split was 9:13, my second was 18:43 but that mile had "THE HILL" Bunker Hill that is. I missed my third split and the guy at the fourth wasn't calling them out. So I didn't exactly have declining splits but oh well.

At one point during the race I was talking to another runner who had complained about the heat. And I said, "how do you think I feel hauling 289 pounds around". He was blown away. He said, "and you're running nine minute splits, that's awesome". That felt good. Then another woman asked how much and we started talking weight loss and Atkins vs. low cal, and how Atkins really was low cal without the counting, etc. etc. She thought I should try low cal, I was thanks, but no thanks.

Man if I was to run 9:40 my little legs would be going like the road Runner LOL. I am lucky ti do 12 minute miles with my short legs. I guess that's one advantage to being taller. LOL

WAY to go on the times that's totally awesome. Keep going you'll get better and better.

Taller nothing I still do 12 minute miles and I'm 6'2".

In fact to me it's the shorter people who seem the speediest...

                            Hey Jim!
THROW CONFETTI!! WHOOO HOO! Way to go! It feels so good when you make those goals doesn't it! I can't imagine running. I simply just don't run (unless there is a tornado coming or something lol!) I envy people who run. They make it look so effortless!
Congratulations and keep up the great work!

                            Be well-
