  • Cool Running for the week of June 19th (beat ya to it Betty)

I wanted to post in the new week so I'll start the thread.

I did it! I ran 10 miles this morning. That was my Father's Day present to myself. I ran the whole way in a time of 1:39:50. I only have 2.5 mile splits setup but my fastest was my last one at 24:10. I am so psyched! If I can do ten today I will definitely be able to run the Boston half-marathon in October.

    Have a great day people.
    Jim

Woot!!! Great job on the 10 miler, and Happy Father's Day! Both you and Betty are so prepared for your races, you're going to end up running the full marathons by the time race day rolls around. Jim - Are you doing the BAA Half, or the Baystate? The Baystate has a full marathon in addition to the half. Think you can ramp up to 26.2 in 3 months?

As for me, I did my 3 loops at the park. I was really intent on going for 4, but my body must be accustomed to only 3, since I had a major bathroom emergency right as I started the 4th loop. Oh well, maybe next time. I forgot to wear my watch, so my time was ~30:00. I purposely went a little slower thinking I'd be adding a loop. This week, it's 4 loops or BUST! :yes

Jimbo!! I don't blame you for starting thios week's thread! You wanna know why I didn't start it? Cuz I was out there doing 10 miles too!!

Yepper, 10 miles in horrendous heat and humidity. We're talking 90 degrees and 80% humidity. Can it get worse? Well yes, it was FULL MID-DAY SUN.... Ever been to Florida (Tampa) in mid-June at noon? Nuff said.
I sweated off 2 pounds.............. I ran it on an empty stomach .. which seemed to work fine. Burned 975 calories, 15% from fat. Avg HR was 167. Pretty good, but then I ran S L O W to preserve my strength and to see the sunrise tomorrow! (any faster and I'd be dead...)

      Now, WHERE'S THE BEEF??????????????????????????????????? :guns

I keep thinking about that 1/2 marathon in January and how wonderfully cool it will be here that time of year ................ :yes :yes :yes

Good Morning Everyone!!!! I ran another 5er this morning!!!! I even had a little burst of speed at the end. I couldn't help it I felt so great. Betty and Jeff--AWESOME!!!! You guys are giving us something to strive for. Effie, great job, I totally understand about the uh potty break, when I ran cc in high school it was not a good run unless I need to find the loo just after the race. (sorry gross) I know you will hit your goal of four this week. :yes Sarah---Can't wait to hear about you getting "high" again. Tommorrow is a 3miler and Tae Bo. (don't forget to ask me on wed how tae bo went. I really need the pressure.) Great job so far everyone, lets reach some goals and set some new limits!!! :joy

I think I'm gonna take a rest day today. I'm pretty sore from the ten miler. I may change my mind later but if I do, it'll be a short quick run.

4 miles today at noon with the running club from work. 5 of us out there today braving the heat and humidity. I took it slow, finished in 53 minutes, burned 350 calories, 15% fat.

Tomorrow is an off day .. since I've done 14 miles in the past 2 days.
              WHEW!

I jogged 4.1 miles went a bit further not too much was running at about 3.8 for the first 30 then 4.3-5.5 for the last 30 so pretty good I think I had the toons pounding in my ears and it felt so great. I was on the treadmill though cause I can't get outside to do it with my kiddies. Everything was good had no irritation from my piercing so I was pretty pleased. It is getting easier every day soon I will be running 70 minutes and so on.

Mind if I join? I could probably use a bit of accountability!

Waited until 10 tonight to put in 4 miles, didn't go to the park, but I've been running 10 minute miles so I just ran around the city for 45 minutes. A lot nicer than just doing laps.

I'm just trying to be as effecient at losing weight as possible, i set my heart rate to alert me when I slip under 155 and over 165, is this too low?
                      Thanks,

Whooooop-Dee Whoooop! I did my 4 loops today, 37:15. I think this will have to be my new standard. Maybe one day a week I'll still do the 3, but I'll run them fast so it'll be my speed workout, if you call 12 minute miles "speed". :P

I started 'week three' of my 10K training program which was running for three minutes, walking for two for sixty minutes total. I did about 8km's in that hour. Tomorrow I'll be in the pool first thing in the morning then doing upper body weight training for about an hour after work.
