  • Calorie Question

Sorry if this question has already been asked, but I searched and didn't find any thing on this. My question is... how do you know how many calories you burn during exercise. Is there any way to know for sure?

The only way to know "for sure" is to hook you up to machines and measure a bunch of stuff while you work out.

If you go to http://fitday.com you can enter your workout and it will give you a reasonable guestimate of how many calories burned.

There's also a heartrate x time equation but I don't know that one.

An hour of moderate "aerobic" exercise is around 400-600 calories. That's exercise that makes you sweat but you can still easily carry on a conversation. So if you do one of those workouts a day that averages around 3500 calories which is a pound of fat.

That is an answer that I have trouble getting my head around. I agree 3500cals = 1lb in weight, but if we follow low carb diet then possibly our calorie intake is much higher than our required calorie level. Does that make sense? If I requirement to live is say 2500cals, we eat 1500cals under a low fat diet, exercise 500 cals, deficit of 1500 cals. 1lb lost in 2 days. But under low carb we might be eating in excess of our daily requirements. Cannot get my head around that

Just forget about counting calories and count carbs.
        That's how you simplify it.
If you carbs are corrent and your carb/protein/fat ratio is correct you'll be fine.
