    Hey All,
    I had a glorious 35 mile ride this morning! It really felt good to be back on the bike! I recently bought some new bike shoes that are so incredibly comfortable! The best part about them is that I can walk around in them with out ruining the cleats as it is a different system that what I had before. They are so roomy so I don't have any foot pain like I did with my old shoes.
    I was really able to 'hammer' today. I should be 'greased lightning' next year on tour!

    I'm glad that you found some shoes that fit you better. I remember that being an issue before. I don't wear special biking shoes because I don't want to use the cleats and be attached to my bike. I'm not into "being one with the bike"! lol Nothing wrong with it, but I don't want to have to worry about getting unclipped fast enough to not fall down when coming to a stop.

    I finally rode the bf's recumbant this week end. Man, is it different! I'll write more about that later on. :sarcasm

    Well, I guess it's time for me to get out of the house and go DO something.

      Hey Pbird!
      These shoes have steel attatchments instead of the plastic cleats that I had before. So really I just 'snap' into the pedals.
      I used to be terrified of going the 'bike shoe' route until I tried them. You go so much faster because you are using your whole leg. You're not only pushing down but you're able to pull up too.
      Once I learned to anticipate my stops I never had any trouble with unclipping. These shoes/pedals are a cinch to get out of.
      I'm looking forward to hearing your 'recumbant' story! Write back and told me what you did today exercise wise!

        Ooo, sounds like an awesome ride. I haven't been able to ride my bike in almost a month. I have a separated front deltoid and ruptured bursa in my arm and just can't do it. On a positive note, while I'm off, my bike is getting tuned up and fitted for me. (I bought it from a friend and she set it up, but I need an expert) I was getting pretty good at getting unclipped, hoepfully I'll still be able to! My clips are metal too, I've never seen plastic clips. I am glad that I got mountain bike shoes and not race shoes though. At least I can walk on them.

          Sorry to hear you're injured! Ouch! I hope you feel better soon. But glad to hear you're going to get your bike tuned up!
          The new shoes I bought are mountain bike shoes. They are so comfortable and it is so nice to be able to walk around in them. My road bike shoes were a pain! Literally and figuratively! Not very cost efficient either as I was having to replace my cleats all the time due to the fact that I walked in them!
          I'm going to try to ride again tomorrow. I promised my husband that I would ride and stay on my program while he is on his fishing trip this week! That is my motivation! My teenage daughter is cheering me on as well and keeping me honest!

            Hello Jade!

            I walked for close to 3 miles this afternoon. I should have gone earlier because it got hot on me. Plus, I forgot to put on sun block and was wearing a sleeveless top. I entered it in my journal, along with the ten mile bike ride from this past Sat. Visit my journal sometime. I just posted a pic of the park where I like walking at. There are more pics in earlier posts.

            I rode the recumbant half that distance. At this point, I'm just gonna say that it's definately different. I had trouble and that was frustrating. But, I'm not ready to give up on it.

                  *Well, thanks! But I have my temptation moments too! Right now I have the cramps so bad and I'm sad cause my beloved Huskers lost to ASU in the elimination round of the college world series that I'm not hungry at all. :sadblinky
                  But one of my best friends and I are suppose to go out for supper tonight. She's been gone on vacation and just got back. Our husbands just left for a fishing trip yesterday so we're going to get together and gab!
