Re: It's official, I registered for the half

I agree with both of you about it being $$ well spent, but the difference is.... you two are both in it. You know you're going to get your money's worth by using them. I still have this nagging feeling that one day I'll wake up and thinking, "Me? Run? Are you kidding?" and then those $110 shoes will sit in my closet. I still feel like I'm in the "honeymoon" period of my half marathon training, and when the going gets tough, I won't be going. So, that's the only reason I'm hesitant to spend the $$ right now. Sheesh, am I pessimistic or what?!

Sweetie, you are in it. We won't let you quit!!! You are an inspiration to so many people, you don't even realize. You have done it before and you can and will do it again!!!! Any time you start to feel like the "honemoon" is over you come here and post immediately. We will make sure you get right back to dreaming about sweat and pavement.

Ps It is shoe abuse if you leave your trainers in the back of your closet. They get very depressed!!! Poor poor forgoten shoes.

We started talking running, and I think I'm going back this week to buy some new running shoes. I am scared about this. I feel like once I plunk down $110 for new shoes, there's no turning back. I'm hoping to do another long run tomorrow morning (well, by long run I mean 5-6 miles). Only 11 weeks until the Baystate Half! I'm not going to register until I can do 8 comfortable miles, which, according to my training schedule, will fall on September 18th.

How's everyone else holding up for their upcoming half?
I bought some shoes earlier this year...used 'em for 2 weeks (including a race!) and then decided I didn't like 'em....so I exchanged them for a new pair!
Buying new shoes isn't a lifelong commitment... you can always return them.
