  • Muscle weight gain?

Hi all. I'm curious about how much muscle weight I've gained in the last 6 weeks.

Mybodycomp.com says I have gained 5.63 lbs in muscle mass and lost 16. lbs in fat mass. I've lost a total of 11 lbs on the scale and 30 inches on th emeasuring tape.

Can I assume that the 5.63 figure is the amount of muscle I've probably gained?

I am not familiar with my body comp, but I am sure there is some variation in the way it works..
Are you lifting weights? Lifting heavy? Pretty new to lifting?

I'm a woman, so I don't do really heavy lifting, but I don't do the lighter stuff, either. Enough to make it really hard work to get thru the second set - big burn. Sometimes hard to get thru the first.

        Well awesome on lifting!
Not sure that being a woman precludes that you'd be lifting heavy..
There's a lot of info on this site if you have not seen it..

your body is also storing as much of the protein we are eating as it can and this will add lean mass to your frame even if you are niot working out according to a UConn study of middleag4d fellows eating changing to Atkins maintnenance from the USDA high carb program. after 6 weeks of eating and no exercise they had added 2 pounds of lean tissue and lost weight too.

Your figures may indeed be correct, but please don't expect to add that amount of muscle mass on a regular basis. It takes nearly a full year to add 5-7 pounds of muscle once you've stabilized your system, and that's with 3-4 workouts a week religously. It reminds me of the intial water weight loss you experience on induction...you can't expect that result every 2 weeks, right?

Congratulations on lifting though...it's a great health boon!
