  • What does your workout area at home look like?

I thought it might be fun to see what other people's workout areas at home look like - so I dug out my camera and snapped a couple.

    My workout video collection:

**Editing to add that the blank back videos on the bottom right are all workouts as well - The FIRM BSS 1, Callenetics, and Yoga.**

On the left: 1 balance ball, 2 small "squishy balls" (for ab work), the Fanny Lifter with a yoga mat on top, and my Sculpting Stick.

On the right: My Urban Rebounder, all my dumbbells lined up in front of it, resistance bands, and the yellow matt is the girls' yoga matt.

And yes, that's what that poor wall looks like all the time. LOL

That's my stash! What's yours look like?

I tried to work out at home but I kept putting it off. I go to a gym because at least it feels like I have a purpose to go and my personal trainer gets pissed if I miss a day so it keeps me in check .

      I hear ya, IceBurns!

When I started this WOE and working out, I had to workout from home because the gym daycares wouldn't take my youngest. Once I got in the habit, I became a junkie. I have a fully equipped fitness room (cybex/eliptical/treadmill/recumbants, the whole shebang) literally right across the hall from my apartment - and I still workout right here 99% of the time. LOL

        Treadmill, recumbent, stepper

Situps thingy, weight bench, exercise ball

Pool with my daughter in it

And I have a membership at a gym and a personal trainer.

You'd think I'd be skinny with all that eh?

Oh and I have a book on every diet there is.

Man you guys have really nice workout stuff. I have 5 burned DVD's, my DDR stashed in the closet, an excercise mat up against the wall with my ab roller on it. Most of the time I try to clear about 4 feet of space so that I don't trip all over my kid's toys, lol. I guess I should clean up her stuff before I excercise instead of after.

Wow Brook, I am so jealous of your workout tape collections. You have an awesome collection. Oh, and I have to ask; What is a fanny lifter? Sounds like something I need

Yoly - I've got an embarrassing amount of money tied up in that collection and it just keeps on growing. I already know what two sets I'm adding next. LOL I'm so bad.

A Fanny Lifter is a two part step. Stacked they're 14 inches tall, separated they're 6 and 8 inches tall. It's the step that the FIRM uses in their workouts and if you use that horrible thing stacked like you're supposed to for a bunch of their moves, you'll wish for death in about 12 seconds. LOL It really targets the hams/glutes/quads something FIERCE.

I just wish I liked the FIRM workouts more than I do. I enjoy dance workouts tons - if they're specifically DANCE workouts. When I'm hitting it hard, I don't want to monkey with too much choreography, so learning the FIRM workouts was daunting for me at first. I still use them and rotate them into what I'm doing, but I'm forever returning to all my BeachBody workouts. I just love them!

                Great thread, Brook!

Aside from the 43 pairs of running shoes.............. mine looks quite similar to yours .. exercise ball, resistence ropes, dumbbells in every weight, workout mat, etc. Oh and did I mention about 13 different sports bras and running shorts? And what about the several dozen scrunchies and clips I use to tie up my hair? The 6 different water bottles? The dozen pair of running socks made from cool max? Oh and the ipod. The sports bag right inside the front door, ready to go to work 4 times a week filled to capacity with all the essentials for running.

Brook I ordered that fanny lifter last week and the pole thing. I got a FIRM DVD cheap at Walgreens and got it home and saw that I needed that stuff. Still waiting for it. Hopefully this week. It does look like it is going to kill me, but I am up for a challenge LOL

Re: What does your workout area at home look like?

Mine looks like a used Afghanistani cave/hideout....too dark and dank for pictures to do it justice. Remember the first gym in the original Rocky? Kind of that atmosphere...it's a corner of my basement with a treadmill, heavy punching bag, jumpropes/gloves, some 35 pound dumbells and a nasty rug doubling as an exercise mat. I DO have an old TV and a box fan...luxurious by my standards. I use this for "indoor" days. There's no a/c or anything but its a bit cooler since its a basement.

I do my heavy lifting at the above ground World Gym, as well as my racquetball (duh). This area is for heavy sweating and training/punishment. This is where I put in the time that shows on the racquetball court eventually.

                      My own little purgatory...hehe.

Ok- so whats your favorie workout dvd...I only have a pilates one and really want to buy some more. I don't want something that takes forever to learn the steps...any ideas?

Oh and we have a portable stair stepper...which I hate but hubby uses it....and a few weights stashed in the closet...we are renting and are stuffed to the max ...no room for equipment...I'm so jealous!!

Wow. Sounds like this group has some pretty great setups! How cool is that?!

Carbsgottago- My favorites are Slim in Six, the various Yoga Booty Ballet videos, and Project: You! I just got the Great Body & Fast 10 sets and haven't given them a run through yet - so I'm reserving judgement there.

I'm going to be adding Turbo Jam & Yamuna Body Rolling to the mix next. Mwahahaha
Most of these videos have several workouts on them - which I'm grateful for. I can't imagine if they were all on their own DVDs how much room they would take up!
